Gum

Does anyone like chewing gum?
I like to chew it because it helps me not be anxious.
I pay attention to chewing and what I'm looking at or listening to.
I used to put giant wads in my mouth, and chew for hours xD
Now I will take two sticks at a time and chew somewhat less of time.
I have the habit of chewing on my cheeks and lips, so it helps that too.
I've also heard it helps with quitting smoking.
Anyone got an info on that?
And what about helping after eating meals?
9/10 dentists can't ever agree.

I do like it sometimes but my jaw gets tired really quickly.
It helps as it is something that you do orally. Smoking is both an addiction and an oral fixation. If you chew gum, pens, suck on suckers or whatever, it helps by taking care of the fixation part.
It might help if it's sugar free gum but it doesn't replace flossing and brushing.

I thought so. I've heard people say to chew gum when you're quitting.
True. It's funny because no one ever agrees, and it's split down the middle xD

Well it doesn't HAVE to be gum. Just something that occupies your mouth. There's that.
There's also the nicotine gum, but that actually has nicotine in it to help with the cravings too.

not particularly. If I'll ever have to eat gum I prefer mint flavoured ones

i tried to get into gum to give me something to do so i'd stop chewing my nails, but it didn't work out. i have to be moving my hands around, not my mouth. i like to chew gum for the flavor usually, then i'll spit it out. i almost never actually get it though.

I only like to chew gum when I am waiting for them to call my name at the doctor's office.

I used to chew gum all the time. Helped with my fidgeting, and the fact that I clench my teeth when nervous (aka all the time). But I stopped because it puts lot of air in your belly, and I get bloated VERY easily. Like, my stomach can grow three sizes in the span of an hour. x.x So I stopped.
Plus, I used it as an appetite suppressant, which wasn't too good for me. I was down to one meal a day if I could chew gum. ^^;
