Location: Gravity Falls.
I got it straightened out but I needed 50 gems for one of the parts of the Fray quest. . . and I had 49.

The story was good, but the rewards seem a little off as it asks for 50 gems, gives you a Change of Heart, takes the Change of Heart, gives it back, takes it again and then gives you a necklace as the final prize.

I thought the "wrong answer" was only something that you could do while the event was live? From what I read, it sounded like they changed the quests a bit so that there's just the canonical way through afterwards.
But yeah, I found it a little weird, too. But didn't the quests prior to the one that asks for the gems give out enough gems to complete that one?

When I got to that part in the quest I had 49 gems out of the 50. I couldn't remember how many of them came form this questline though so I looked it up on the Wiki. The quests before give out 40 gems. So the other 9 were from daily attendance with the Headmaster.
