NieR

Has anyone played this?
It's a pretty obscure game so I'm used to people not knowing about it.

Let me just say that it is, hands-down, one of the best games I've ever played.
It's dark and intense and really, really sad, haha.
The graphics are alright for a PS3 game and the combat system isn't the best,
but the plot is phenomenal, in my opinion.

I haven't played it. I do want to play it one day though. It seems pretty interesting and different.

It really is! It's set up with several different endings, too,
and it's exciting to play through multiple times.

I would be interested in trying to get the different endings. That's good to hear that it is still fun even after playing it once.

Nier is one of the few games to make me cry. The haunted mansion part was cool af. It was all pretty cool, actually, all the areas.. ooo... I want to play it again...

Did you get really into gardening?? I didn't bother with it, but I remember wishing I did. Guh, it's been so long, I can't remember what the benefit was, but I know you can breed a golden rose or some such thing and I think give it to either your daughter or Kaine or something....
Spoiler
I started a second playthrough.. wooee... when you can hear the enemies clearer, it's even more dark and depressing.
Very very very good game. Didn't get as much hype as it ought to. It's pretty clean looking for a ps3 game. I liked the combat system >_> I enjoyed the silly magic and trying to avoid the silly magic. It was like this weird combo of bullet hell and normal RPG fightins.

Also Kaine forever. :qh:

ALSO I DIDN'T KNOW THERE WAS A SEQUEL WTF I ////

I am soooor eadyyyyyy

@Rosamond
Yes! What's nice is that with each new playthrough, you get something different out of the game.

@Asha
It is so sad, right? I cried a lot, haha.
I didn't get into gardening until it was necessary for a side quest.
It was just kind of difficult for me to get a hang of! Fished a lot, though.

I think I'm on my third playthrough.
It goes by pretty quickly once you're no longer worried about side quests, haha.
BUT YES. That always made me sad with the enemies (should that be tagged as spoiler? idk).

See, I liked a lot of the combat system but I've heard from many people that they dislike it.
It was kind of rough because like for the weapons, I only ever used like .. one.
So even though there were a lot of weapons, there was obviously only a few that were worth it.

Kaine and Emil are my favorites. <3

YES. YESSSS. It's kind of unrelated to the characters from NieR, but I'm still excited.
It has the same composer and creators, too! So it should be just as great!

@x __ FRAN

I changed the one thing to spoiler just in case e_e my bad D:
I was playing on my 360 and it red ringed.. hopefully they'll do a ps4 re-release, maybe with the new one coming out, or else I'll just get a ps3 version. I want to try the gardening out, too. I remember looking it up and that discouraged me from doing it. Looked too complicated lolol. I was weak. Also it's based on real time??? :mcomg:

I don't think I really changed weapons much either. I had a set of magic I liked that I forcefully used I think haha. I remember.. so much.. red.. font..
There were a lot of crappy weapons, though, yeah. I had some holy spear I used the entire game once I got it. Phoenix something? I think.

Fishing was actually so much fun in this o_o not really the act of it, but the quests were interesting. I usually hate fishing cos it's this awful combo of waiting patiently but requiring a split-second response... minecraft fishing, for example :qoops:

I'm so curious how a sequel would even look.. I kiiinda remember the end.
Spoiler
I remember those twin robot girls, and your evil twin... the replicant? And you're like, essentially an original human, but a husk? Is this purgatory? I can't really remember e_e Need to re-lore myself so I'm prepared for #2.
P.S.

d'awwww
(Yonah so adorable lol)

P.S.S.
Spoiler
I have adblock so the youtube video was grey and I missed it.. but I just spotted it.. wooee. So ready. Ik you said it was unrelated, but that girl looks like Yonah to me. This is me being hopeful tho. Yonah is pretty normal looking, could be anyone.

I played it on Xbox360 aka "you're a father" version. Main character being young person seems too... generic for me? I did love him as older guy with a child. And Kaine... Kaine is one of my favourite fictional characters ever created. Even though I felt gameplay is a bit lacking, the story and overall mood were excellent.

In one of my "NieR is the best game ever" moods.

@Asha
Spoilers ahead. :U
Spoiler
Kind of, yes! It's definitely not purgatory, but just ... the very far future. I don't even feel comfortable saying what it really is here, because someone might see anyway and spoil the best plot twists for themselves! D:
But definitely look into it again!
I know the second one is loosely connected, but knowing all the lore from NieR 1 might make the 2nd one more fun to play.

@Ama
I really prefer the father, too. He's not that attractive ffff, but I like the father/daughter dynamic.
Also I'm really into his relationships with Kaine and Emil as an older male too?
I'm just here for Father!Nier altogether.

Well, it's not like I can avoid it. I have to get the next game. And I have to get my hands on the Drakengard series now that I am aware of them. GaahhhH! So many games. I just bought Fallout 4, and the Bloodborne expansion.. so many games, not enough time..
Do you think I should remove my spoilers, then? Lol. e_e
