i'll be alright. just gotta slog through the BS with Medicaid until they get their heads out of their butts and let me get the medication that I know works. Dad's doing better. He's ambulatory and uses a walker now, but at least he's able to get around on his own for the most part.

I'm gonna try and get at least three full sets of this year's Doughnight items, in case peeps miss out, or newbies join and want 'em. from the looks of things, I'm guessing we'll have some blue items.

*hug*

I don't think I'll be able to get Doughnight stuff for myself. Working, and there are so many calendars to keep up with. I had already missed four pieces from one of them before I realized it was up. I can send you all the keys that I manage to get, and maybe I have some things you want, for trade?

sent you some stuff for the first few days.

We took Dad up to the hospital in Omaha today (Different one than the first time), because the doctors wanted to do some bloodwork and labs. and Dad will probably be there for a few days at least.

ETA: Update on Dad. he got through debridement surgery okay. He was supposed to have a WoundVac put on today, but there's apparently a lot of excess bleeding still, so the doctor is waiting 'til tomorrow, which means it won't get changed 'til Thursday. and this was the last-ditch effort to save what could be saved of dad's foot. If this fails to heal and/or gets infected again, next step is below-the-knee amputation.

I'd put money on Dad not being able to come home for Christmas at this rate.

So, Dad came home on December 22nd. He had a doctor's appointment yesterday, the 2nd.

I decided I was gonna try and measure the garage steps for a ramp, and I still intend to do that, just not right now.

I just now realized this had been answered. Did you ever get anything done on that?

Mom decided to measure, but odds are we won't need a ramp in the garage. Dad's been in the nursing home off and on since February, when he had what was left of his left foot amputated. Then he had to have more taken because the doctor he had took him off of his blood thinners (he has an artificial heart valve), and the nursing home kept him off of them for a week, which caused his heart to throw a clot. He lost the other foot sometime last month(?)(Time's been weird for me), and he's gotten so weak that he can't even really pull himself up. he's not doing well, and I've basically checked out on the whole thing.

as horrid as this is gonna sound, I honestly hope he passes soon. he's in so much pain and has no quality of life anymore, combined with bad habits that mean he's liable to choke on something as he tries to eat or take his meds...

I'm sorry you have to go through all that.

My grandma had a stroke a few years ago and she's been in a retirement home for a while now. When she had the stroke doctors told us to get her life insurance and stuff in order because they thought she was going to die that day. She's paralyzed on her left side but mostly aware and talkative. She had a bleed on her brain and because she's older there was room in her cranial space to accommodate the bleed, though it pushed her brain all the way to the right of the space in her cranial space. She's developed dementia. I really miss her sometimes.
