I find it satisfying when I get someone who's usually super serious to laugh. But I do that by trying out jokes, not by demanding that they smile for me.

There is a difference between a genuine one and a sleazy salesperson one tho
Seems you have a lot of experience with the latter
From what I recall learning, a fake smile doesn't use the whole face, the eyes especially give it away. A genuine one the eyes squinch up a bit and look happy too
And speaking of fake ones I had to Cheshire Grin a kid into cooperating once I don't know how it worked but I have a guess lol

Zia's sneaky >8u
When I laugh, I sound like I'm dying xD
Kit: I know, I know 8,u
Not all people are shitty, but I have indeed met a majority of the latter.
I did not know that, though. Thanks for that information u8 -writes down-
By terrifying them 8u

Yea I think I remember reading about that too. I think there was also another way to tell a fake smile from a real one, but I can't remember it.
Maybe you scared the kid?

Keep in mind a few things with that bit:
It was nighttime
Glow does not have a store, so no overhead lights
I wear a hat. It has a brim
The lights in front don't really have any coverage by the booth
The lights nearby are to the side and behind
90% of the booth's lights are the product we have on display on the wall...behind us
Kid was barely a head above the counter for height. I'm pretty sure the booth counter is closer to four feet than three for some reason. Not that I'm complaining and we use the space underneath so pretty useful there too
So yeah, I prolly scared the kid a wee bit
And to go by the adult's reaction, that kid had been a brat allllllllllllll day

Ah, I want scary glowy times 8,u
That reminds me of when my dad dressed as The Crow for Halloween and scared the hell out of this kid u8
The mother brought them up to our porch and Dad went to give them candy and the kid started screaming and crying xD
I have a lot of horror shirts - skeletons, zombies, wolves with red eyes, and the like.
I wore my shirt with the red-eyed wolves to the store and this little girl stared at my shirt as her mom pulled her past.
I don't know if she liked it or was confused or if it was scary xD;
