light; found you! I’m going to share our commonalities here, in a contained place, rather than spreading them across the kingdom.
I’m not great at socializing, and hate being seen by people. Their reactions are typically patronizing or othering.
+1 to the parenting test camp

I am easily found! lol.
Okie dokie.
Samsies. I want to socialize though. I wish that more people liked me. But lots of them are so hard to get along with. Either they're bigoted awful people, or they're just not interested in friendship. And the me being super honest doesn't usually help matters.
I've only got one real life friend (that's not my husband). We don't get to talk very much. I feel like she just doesn't want to take the time to visit me/talk to me very often. I guess my life is just too depressing for most people.
I get a lot of the patronizing othering looks. It's so annoying.

I will get back on topic, but mini-rant: I haate mondays.
Sometimes someone comes to “help,” and she stares at me eating and drinking.
I’m especially sensitive to it today, because I just started speech therapy over the weekend. I have facial palsy and feel like a freak on a good day tbh.
There are cultural differences at play and my own mental weirdness, but do people really stare at others eating? It feels rude and kinda invasive.

I have no huge opinion on Mondays. Nothing happens except that Kevin goes back to work from the weekend off. That is a little lame. But it's not awful.
Are they a nurse? Maybe they're afraid of you choking?
But I feel like they could not stare while doing that. Just like look if you make a noise or something.
I think that most people don't stare while someone is eating. But it might be a different cultural thing. I'm not sure.

No, not a medical person at all.
Speech therapy is making me really conscious of myself, and I have rarely eaten in front of others since high school.
As for socializing, it feels like disability either brings out the best or worst in people. I have amazing friends, but only a few, and I’ve only actually met one of them for longer than five minutes in person.
Ugh a dentist thought I was mentally deficient because I wasn’t responding while she was yammering and looking at my teeth. My face may have factored in.
I only saw her once, thankfully.

They weird then. lol.
Aw. That really sucks. Do you have someone come to you?
I get a little self conscious when I eat because I'm a super messy eater. I'm always dropping stuff down my front. Also I'm very overweight so I always feel like people are judging me.
She didn't know you were deaf? Like didn't she try to talk to you before she reached into your mouth? Jeez. People are crazy.
I hope you got a better dentist now.

I agree that is a bit weird she is staring at you while you eat ... maybe she just doesn't know what else to do with herself. Or she doesn't want you to think she is ignoring you? I dunno, but yeah that would make me uncomfortable as well.

Hi Garfield ovo
Acceptable nickname. I want to sleep.
Light; my mom or dad brings me food. I eat/live in the master suite because it’s easier with my mobility issues.
I am a super messy eater, too. I use adult bibs to keep my clothes clean. But i drool a ton because of my facial palsy/trigeminal nerve damage. It’s embarassing.
I was accompanied by my mom, and I guess the dentist assumed? But, yes, I have a better dentist now.
MissNikki; I want to tell her to stop, but it feels weird to me to imply she’s making me feel weird. :/

That makes sense.
Does it annoy you how all the adult bibs are so ugly and depressing? Like, there are a lot of people who still have their senses that use them. I'm sure lots of people would appreciate some cute bibs.
I don't drool. I think the dropping of food for me is more to do with twitchy hands/poor grip/not being able to sense where to food is in relation to my face.
I guess they made an ass of themselves then.
I mean, she's there to help you, right? She's employed by your parents/you/the state? You shouldn't feel bad for asking her to look elsewhere while you're eating.
