light_sucks wrote:Oh no! I didn't know you were on medical leave. What's wrong??

I hope it works for you!

I get stared at a lot when I go out so I'm used to it. I'm very obese and I walk with a cane. So people stare. I also have a lot of scarring/scabs on my face. lol. And a mohawk. idgaf any more. I do what I want.
I went on medical leave because my anxiety and depression were really affecting me badly at work. I was crying constantly on the job, calling in sick all the time because I couldn't handle being there, not performing well. I think now that I can't go back to that job ... I need to go back to what I really love doing, which is working with kids. I'm also learning to be a Crystal Healer. My job doesn't know this is my plan though ...

I have had to increase my anxiety meds to help, and have upcoming appointments with a new therapist. I am supposed to go back to work on May 9th so trying to figure out if I can extend my benefits until I find another job doing what I actually want to do ... I think not letting myself be authentic, and doing what I genuinely love to do led to some of the major spike in my mental health issues. I was focusing on making more money, doing something I really don't like to do, because I wanted to make the big bucks.

People shouldn't stare at you. There's all kinds of shapes and sizes of people in this world. I feel like we need to accept people for who they are, physically. It's who you are inside that is the most important.

Yes Kit, that was me following you LoL :mcheh:

Eugh I had that problem with anxiety
But i was unmedicated (and undiagnosed, tho idk if taking meds means I'm officially diagnosed or not) so...

Yep, anxiety sucks. Some people can do well without meds and just talk therapy or self-help. For me, I need meds and some form of therapy and self help stuff.

KH - WHAT!? You've worked there for 9 years and they only pay you minimum wage? You don't get a yearly raise? What butt munches!

MissNikki - Aw. That really sucks, man. I know those feels. I had that problem at my last job. I eventually got fired.

Well I hope that the new therapist works out for you. And the meds help.

Money is definitely a lure.

Oh but they do. They stare a lot. lol.

I also take meds for anxiety and depression. Good times.

Well, I started at $7.25 but now it's $11.something so technically I kinda did but that's cuz state minimum wage has been rising soooooo...

If the state minimum wage is 11 then that doesn't really count as raises.

If you actually love what you are doing then I suppose the money doesn't matter if you are living a good life with the wages you make. I do believe after that time and dedication though you deserve more. Do they offer you a retirement plan at least? If you have been there that long I would expect you might even stay until you retire, so I hope they do that.

Minimum wage here in BC, Canada is $11.75 per hour. If my math is right, that is about $8.80 US. Every place I have worked gave a yearly raise, not all were great, some were better than others, but at my last job I was making about $19 Canadian an hour, or $14.25-ish US and that is the most I have made per hour at a job.

That's part of the reason I want to have my own business. I will make the most money that way and be able to do what I love. I'm in the process of setting up a daycare in my home so hopefully within a year or so I can do that.

Jobs should have to pay a living wage. You can't live off of just liking your job. People got bills to pay.

I miss my old job. I made like 15 bucks an hour. There were really great benefits. I hate that my disability made me not able to work.

I wish you luck with your daycare! Have you ever watched Daddy Daycare?

LoL yes I have seen Daddy Daycare! Pretty funny. :mcheh: :mclaugh:

I've worked in a lot of daycares and preschools over the years, and then recently was working for a financial institution cuz I made a lot of money there... that's definitely not right for me and I realize that now.

And thank you :qh: :mccute:

I gotta tell you, there is practically no job that I would want less than working at a daycare. I cannot stand the sound of kids screaming. It makes me super anxious. And I can't do diapers. And they just sneeze right in your face. -shudders-

Babies are alright until they start leaking. Then I hand them back to their parents. lol.

But it's really good that there's people who love taking care of kids. There is a serious shortage of quality affordable daycare.
