My grade 6 teacher was a part of the panel of scientists that decided whether or not Pluto should remain a planet, which I always thought was pretty cool. He voted to keep it one IIRC.

He was also friends with Bill Nye the Science guy, and took high res photos of space that got published in magazines.

AND he scuba dived, and was a pilot I think??

I have no idea what he was doing at our crappy elementary school.

Some of us just love teaching.
It's not crappy if you love what you are doing there :mccute:

Evaluation sessions are when all the teachers of the same group get together and discuss the situation of each student one by one.
They are necessary but usually way too long and tiresome.

The evaluation sounds scary to student me xD;

Yeah, they have a lot of stuff based around Pluto being a planet.
You can't just nerf it \u8</
My sister is a Scorpio and her ruling planet is/was Pluto.
She said "What am I supposed to do now \>8u/"

Hahaha, students are sometimes scared of it indeed! They think we speak evil of them xD
But truth is that most of the time we just discuss technicalities - Should we enroll them in a certain program? Should we re-arrange the way they are seating? What should we do about certain issues that have arised with them?

And sometimes we talk about the family background and such.
For example, I have a student who is a bit lost right now.
Her mom went thru several marriages, had a child with each husband and then divorced and moved on - kids each raised by their father, cause mom is a free spirit and children are too needy.
Now this teenage girl is in contact again with her mom. They don't meet in person, mother lives hundreds of km away, but she never judges whatever the daughter says. So she challenges her father cause she thinks mom loves her better.

This does not justify some of her poor behaviour, but knowing this kind of stuff helps us understand what some of these kids are going thru.
More often than not what they need is some support, and sometimes someone to talk to.

Pluto not being a planet should not make any difference in that kind of stuff. It's just a technicality. Now it's labeled as a dwarf planet, that's all.

I wonder if my teachers did such a thing...
I was mostly liked by teachers.
Some teachers treated me like shit just because they could.

A dwarf planet isn't good enough to be a real planet \>8u/
My ruling planet is Venus.
I wish it was Jupiter 8,u
Sailor Jupiter was always my favorite so I just like Jupiter xD;

I'm Aries, so mine is.... Mars? I think?

I'm not the most knowledgeable about astrology stuff, but I think that's right.

Jupiter is much cooler

I'm Pisces, that much I know, but I have no idea about what planet it's related to.

But I think dwarf planets deserve the same respect as regular planets.
Otherwise it's plain planet-racism.

Aries is Mars and Pisces is Neptune 8u

I find Astrology interesting but not entirely sure I believe in it.
I do like seeing traits for each sign and seeing which make sense.
As a Libra, I think the majority of traits are correct for me.
But one that I never agreed with was being a social butterfly.
I'm the most introverted person I know - definitely not a social butterfly xD

Imagine being a planet your whole life then being told to get out because you're too small to be in the club.

Neptune is cool.

I definetely don't believe in it.
I mean, you are not the same as all the people on the world who were born on the same as you. And even less as the people who were born in a 30-day range.
But I suppose it can be kind of fun anyway.
