Yeah, they are available in the Living Empire for 1 and they give your knuffel 70 exp. per hour.
Just as you can buy each of your knuffels the Sour Red Apple and the Sweet Tooth Cupcake to give your knuffels a certain amount of Energy/Happiness, so you won't have to feed and play with them every time you want to dig. That's how all of my regular knuffels thrive I have spare apples and cupcakes if you'd need help with getting them
Look in the Living Empire and filter Functional items, there are several.
