Well, no, I didn't mean we would be leaving Eurovision either :P but voting has historically been very politically charged. It's also the case that the citizens who are voting will have preconceived ideas, like never voting for a certain country because they don't like that country. But anyway, you don't even have to be on the European continent to be in Eurovision anymore XD

I just felt so bad for Australia. They were so excited to have so many points and then the announcers said how few points they got for the popular vote and they just looked shellshocked. Like they were getting ready to celebrate and then were hit with that awful score XD Oh man poor guys.

That was basically the first thing I said when he appears, hahaha.

@jacobgrey
I still... I still just mean to say that, Eurovision completely aside, the UK leaving the European Union doesn't mean leaving Europe in the same way that Norway isn't in the European Union but we still very much consider it a European country. :qo:
It's true about the voting though, sadly. My parents go mad if Belgium doesn't vote for us while they never even watch Eurovision, so if we suck she'd still get mad Belgium doesn't vote for us. XD And yeah, I always feel a bit awkward about non-European countries being in Eurovision, but hey... more music more fun?

Awww dang. I was fairly distracted during vote-counting, so I missed stuff like that.

I do understand what you're saying, I'm trying to say that I was saying the same thing XD Although if you ask most British people they don't consider ourselves part of Europe anyway, I think most people believe that we should be a continent on our own or something dumb like that.

I assume you mean most British people believe that it should be? xD Cause I've never heard anyone else say that so far.

Does remind me of this one province in our country, they feel like being a separate country (they have their own language too, not dialect, language). I couldn't care less, but for some reason when we mention that province there's always something coming up about them being 'foreigners' even though they practically aren't.

Sorry, I must've misread when I replied then. :qhehe:

I'm from The Netherlands, and it concerns the province Leeuwarden. I must admit I have never known what caused the behaviour towards and from this province though, but from what I gather it's not toooo much of a big deal.

How strange that is. I was just recently studying up a little on the Basque region and how the people there want to become their own country, because they are split up amongst different country borders. But also there are less and less people who speak the language now.

Just take into account that it's a lot more minor over here, probably, although I think that around voting times I saw one political party promoting actually becoming their own country... but I am not so sure. It's been over a year, I'm not going to remember politics of another province if I can hardly focus on country-related politics. :qt:

I have to admit I know nothing of the Basque region. Well, maybe that changes someday.

I don't know precise details about it. But there was a lot of guerilla action at one point. As far as I know it's not so common anymore.
