But in the anime, they didn't actually get together. I didn't like the second female character as much. I think he'd be better off with a character that wasn't dependent on him, but maybe someone he could depend on. Doesn't have to be someone boisterous or strong-minded, just someone more self-sufficient.

I don't mind that you don't agree with me on this one. I just think it's nice that the girl can grow because of the best friend and the guy can open up his heart because of her earnestness. But before they get together, I want the girl to grow more as a person because as she currently is, I can't see the relationship being good.

My wife ships Sanji and Pudding in One Piece (though I suspect it's to spite me for all the gay stuff I keep ranting about). I don't dislike Pudding, but it's not a preferred ship.

One Piece is one of those anime that I will probably never watch just because of how long it's gotten XD

Hmm...I think I like the typical shoujo manga pairing. The super hardworking energetic girl and the cold pretty boy who is secretly hardworking turned warm person. Even though I say that, I can't read those types of manga in one sitting. Whenever something uhh...good between them happens I can't help but feel embarrassed for them so I have to stop reading for a while before I can read again.

That's fair. My brother and I bond over it, since we grew up with it. Oda's also fantastic with the different concepts and themes he uses for his story and world.

Oh, so is it like Fruits Basket? I think I can see what you mean with those types, though it really depends how well the writer portrays them.

I definitely like where one character is cold, and the other is more chatty, and while the former has obvious struggles, you find out that both characters are broken in some way. As the relationship progresses, you find that they both change and learn to grow stronger as individuals as well as as a couple.

But really, I like opposites who have some overlapping similarities that are less obvious.

I like the interaction that usually happens between those types of character tropes. Usually, both of them end up inspiring each other to be better people. Also, I like how they solve problems differently and how they solve problems together.

I don't like when there's a love triangle and the person in the middle isn't firm about their disinterest though. It kinda feels like they're leading the characters on. I also dislike when they villainize the romance rival.

Are the ships limited to fruit basket? If yes, I ship the protag and Yuki so badly ;A; but but the protag ended up with the cat guy *sobs* I also like the pairing of cow and the girl who's hostile to everyone.

Outside fruits basket, I'm a huge supporter of shirayuki and zen from akagami no shirayukihime, yona and hak from akatsuki no yona, and chise and nozaki from gekkan shoujo nozaki-kun XD I pretty much go with vanilla pairings unless I feel like they don't match one another. Oh oh and Mizuki and Subaru from Kono Bijutsubu
