I had to look it up for the exact amount, looks like a rat can have 10-12 babies in a litter and can have a litter once every 3 or 4 weeks. the thing I looked up also said that a female rat could have up to 17 litters in a single year
with the cage, I think I'll put the ramp down to the upper half after I get the two new ones. but I will have to keep the new ones separated for a bit depending on how introductions go.
pretty sure they're natural or maybe brought about by breeding, not sure exactly. but I have an idea that if I'm able to get a dumbo, I still like the name Bobo, and if I manage to get one with a splotchy pattern like a lot of the ones the breeder had for his rat-baby pictures, I might name it Splat. for some reason I feel like "Splat" is a super cute name for a splotchy/splatter-patterned rat.

Yep, sounds good. I feel one of the biggest worry in getting a new pet when you already have one is how the latter will take it..;;;
Splat will be good for a patterned rat like that, but otherwise, I don't think it's a good name xDD

soooo.. I might've done a thing.
the humane society where I'm at showed saying they had TONS of rat babies. and I may have gone there and adopted two.
I haven't uploaded photos yet of them but I'll be sure to share them when I do (THEY'RE SO TINY!!!)
but one of them is almost a solid grey/brown color with white around her hands and feet with a white belly, and the other looks black (maybe a dark dark brown) with a large stripe going from her head color all the way down her back to her tail, with some drips of color under the stripe on both sides.
I was thinking with names.. not set on them yet... but maybe Reji or Reni for the one with the stripe, I'm liking the name Reji more though for her (she kept trying to chew her way out of the cage, so I started thinking of her as "Reggie the jailbreak" not sure why, but it just popped into my head).
and for the other, since she looks like a little sun-bear or teddy bear, I was thinking Sunny, but have it be short for Sundae

What about the other patterned mice?

Reji's been sticking for the one rat, but the other I started calling Seulbi instead of Sunny or Sundae. they're socializing super quick, I took them out for the first time last night, and today when I took them out with Meadow, Seulbi kept climbing up to look at my face and Reji climbed onto my shoulders.
they seem to LOVE Meadow, and Meadow seems to really like them. think I have to wait at least a week or two before housing them together, but hang outs are going super well.

they did have a bunch of cute mice too, but I don't really have a place I could keep mice. and I've read that rats and mice can tolerate each other but can't be housed together.

Seulbi is a Korean name? :o

I heard the name Seulbi in a Korean animation based off of a game I play and thought it was cute, the name has sort of stuck now too lol.
and I was kind of surprised, I originally adopted Reji based off of her personality and how she seemed more social, and Seulbi seemed super timid but loved how she appears to be a solid color (with a splash of white on her belly). but Seulbi has turned out to be super cuddly and Reji's been the more timid one out of the two lol
