I'm stuck on a few pretty dense non-fiction textbooks that are seriously slowing me down.
I don't even remember what started it, but I'm about four chapters into a topography maths book and six or seven into a particle physics book (which is a bad combo; the maths are too different to mesh well), plus several biographies which could have been written better.
So even though there's two weeks left before the end of the year, I'm quite certain there's no chance I'll be able to finish on time.

Well I ultimately failed at my goal this year. I've only completed two and halfway through my third. I really need to take a step back for next year and make myself a list of mini-goals so I stop focusing too much on just one thing and spread out when I work on things. (also my goal for 2022 is to work through my stashes which includes books I guess if you can count my addiction of buying books and never reading them a stash)
It really doesn't help that the last two months I have just been busy with holidays and decided to dumbly make handmade gifts (that I still need to finish). And I got really into my hobbies which didn't help.

I gave up in October, so...

I still hoped I'd finish that book on HSPs though...
I'll try better next year

I fell short this year, but I think I still did pretty good. For one thing, when I set my goal for 2021, I didn't plan on getting my wildlife rehabber license this year, so that ended up taking up a lot of time that I didn't originally plan on. And I also started a few books, got around halfway through, wasn't impressed, and gave up on them. So there was all that reading that I didn't end up counting in my book total. I think I will go lower for my 2022 goal. Maybe around 10. Because I'll have the opossums until spring, so they'll probably keep me pretty busy until then.

I failed this year (which includes but is not limited to books)
wulfilalice wrote:all year challenge: books in German and literary fiction
current count:
0 German
1 non-speculative
6 other
approximate list by the end of the year
actually read:
I've read literally one book from my guideline list and literally one short story that fulfills my challenge to read more literary fiction. and the latter only because we worked on it during a course on literary translation that I took this autumn. zero books read german.
not a year of plans and not a year of reading. I also don't think it's realistic to finish any of the started books because I took up another course and need to hand in a 30-page paper in the first week of January. 8 out of 10 chapters to go
I did some cross-stitching, though! and gardening in spring and summer. then from september everything broke. but what I did a lot with books then was buy them... two mangas by a german artist (maybe if I read them by the end of the year, I'd have two german books on my have-read-list, lol), and two graphic novels: "the rabbi's cat" by joan sfar and "the property" by rutu modan. excited to dive into them once my course paper is finished

Well, my GoodReads challenge was over way too soon, so I made here an aditional challenge.
Which I kinda had forgotten about.
But it's good to review it:
- books in Galician language: 2 (Dragal, Os nenos da variola)
- classic books that I had never read before: Woolf's A room for one's own (can you believe I had not read it yet?), The catcher in the rye
- books about feminism: Mujeres que ya no sufren por amor
- books abouth Maths: well, I actually only read one, and only because my husband wrote it ^^; so I'm not really sure I would like to count it...
I think I will make another challenge of this fashion next year, and I'll try to keep track of it more closely.
