I will one day work up the courage to read the Berserk manga. But at the same time I kind of don't want to subject myself to what horrors it most likely holds.. <A<

It's a good series.
I haven't read it in a while, though.
It is extremely violent and there's sexual parts in it.

I was browsing Amazon for the Battle Royale series.
They were pretty cheap too.

Oh I know, that's why I'm holding back.. I watched the whole anime with a friend 'cause it's his all-time favourite and really enjoyed it up until everything went fucking nuts at the end. 8u It left me a little scarred..

I don't remember how I started reading it, though.

Well, Berserk went into a very deep form of fucked-uppery. :0 Like I can handle a lot of stuff but that is one of the few things that left me very disturbed. XD I can't imagine how the new movie rendition of those scenes would be. Well I can sort of imagine but I'd rather not. Nopenopenope.

Ahhh...Berserk. I dunno, I guess I got desensitized to wtf as a kid because I grew up watching war movies continually. I can clearly recall watching
Full Metal Jacket as an elementary school kid.
@moi: Yeah, most of the Battle Royale series is pretty cheap because it had an okay-sized production run. Careful if you're a completionist, though--a few of the volumes bounce between 25-50 dollars. So frustrating...collecting older series/series from defunct publishers is so risky...
@Rosamond: Viz is actually putting out new volumes of the Jojo's manga starting with the first arc (first volume comes out in...February, I think?), so now's a good time to jump in and read! I'm hoping they actually publish the whole series instead of just picking one arc and only doing that one, like they did with Stardust Crusaders way back when.
...I'm...sort of obsessive, I suppose...

It wasn't the WTF-factor or even the gore exactly, it was seeing everything I had grown very attached to and loved being torn to shreds in front of me. In horrible ways.
I mean my first anime was Evangelion so.. xD

Oh, see, I'm sort of the "kill your darlings" sort of person who likes things to end poorly, so that sort of thing doesn't bother me as much. I mean, it's not the most fun thing ever, so I can see where you're coming from, though.
