Kingdom of Knuffel

Yeah, I actually made this account back in high school, and since I still get the site's newsletters, I get the urge to pop in every once in a while. I'm 24 now, just finishing my Associates, and I've been RPing for about, jeeze, 14 years, maybe?

And yeah, heh. Most of my OCs are either based on adopted designs I've bought, or drawn myself. I'm still trying to learn to draw decently, though.

*pats* If you were my niece, I'd totally manipulate you into wearing it. If you know your kid and you phrase something carefully enough, you'll be able to talk them into being okay with all sorts of things. (Nothing crazy, just stuff to keep them in a fair mood.)

But I'm an evil person who told this little girl who kept touching my phone and trying to unlock it that it was voice activated. LOL. It's not voice activated.

Yeah, I do it to get my characters down on the page. I've never liked using established images before, it feels too much like stealing (in fact, depending on how Fair Use in interpreted, I'm pretty sure it is stealing!) but I get why others do it, and I don't blame them or anything.

Aye, I'm definitely of the "draw your own" / "use descriptions" / "commission art" / "get permission" variety. I didn't start out that way, admittedly, and I'm not perfect in this regard (I still link to scenic content and inspirational photos via Pinterest), but I make an attempt.

In truth, it's hard not to post / link to / share any kind of image that you think would be a good addition to the story. I find that most people do it to some degree or another, and while I've developed my own standards to this, I understand that others feel and interpret this differently.

I'm sure very few people started in RP by drawing their own characters (I sure as heck didn't, lol) but now that I know a couple of artists, I feel too guilty using character designs that I don't 'own' in some capacity.

Though, I've never really considered scenery or outfits the same, tbh. I use random pictures all the time to show what someone would wear, heh.

Ironically, despite being in this hangout, I'm someone who hasn't really shared my OCs with basically anyone.

Anyway, I'm curious, how many of you guys have non-fantasy, normal characters that are just regular people? It probably seems super boring, hahahah, I think I have way too many regular human characters sometimes.

I... don't think I do, actually. I have a set of twins who I'm trying to develop that are Celtic inspired that I'm trying to decide if I should make them for a fantasy universe or not.

I feel like such a hack now, realizing that.
