Their claim is that they're behind
Well, one, studies have proven that less hours worked is actually more productive
Two, more time off means more time for the mechanics to actually properly fix the machines
Three, hey look if the machines were properly fixed maybe they wouldn't, say, have massive breakdowns that shut it down for a month at a time
Four, you're a factory. That has a shitty "union" that caters to the employer. People are less and less willing to be treated like dirt, too, so there's five

But nope. Gotta drive everything into the dirt

What types of machines do they work on?

It's just sad that people have to work for a living and yet some of them are treated so poorly.
Like they're not people, just machines...

Now I'm thinking they make like demons or something 8u

I heard this story recently that kinda ties in with our discussion...
It was at this hospital - they had a machine that cleaned equipment and stuff.
You had to walk into it and put whatever you wanted cleaned in there and leave, close the door, and start the machine.
Well, the machine had been broken for a while - the door would close on its own and lock.
The workers reported it numerous times, but the hospital didn't want to pay for a new one.
The workers had to use a piece of wood or a block to make sure the door didn't close and lock them in.
Well, this young woman started working there and she used the machine too.
Well, one day she went inside to put something in there and she didn't use the item to keep the door from shutting.
Well, it did shut and she was locked in there and the machine came on.
She was basically steamed alive.
Why? Because the hospital didn't want to buy a new machine.
So due to negligence, a young woman lost her life.
She had her whole life ahead of her and it was snuffed out by some cheapass bastards who didn't give enough of a shit about their workers to buy a new machine to make sure they weren't in danger.

Depending on where this was, the could have been able to report it to the labor board (or equivalent) and more or less forced the place to replace it
But I guess manslaughter via negligence works too

I can't remember who all they complained to but nothing was done.
The woman that died was actually still alive when they found her but died later.
I had forgotten about that part 8u

The interesting thing is that unlike fire, steam doesn't kill your nerve endings.
When you get 3rd degree burns, eventually you'll not feel pain anymore.
Steam doesn't do that so you're just in pain the whole time.
