Some cafés here serve edible flower leaves with certain kinds of tea, but I can never really get any flavour from them. Just tastes like the rest of the tea haha

Yeah, I can't think of many (any?) flowers with a strong enough flavor that I'd be able to pick them out over the taste of tea. I mean, even 'jasmine tea' is usually flavored with a concentrated essence, not just the petals... maybe I'm just not very good at picking out subtle flavors though. I find tea pretty strong.

Popo: I'm going to assume it's for aesthetic purposes... or at least for many cafes haha

I had a vegan hot chocolate with petals floating on it in this one hippie cafe. I kind of... drank one? ahaha and then ignored the rest.

I take it there wasn't much flavor to it?

Have you seen those fancy candles with the petals floating in the wax? I always wondered if they were just for the look of things, or if they were chosen because they'd add a nice scent when they burned, at the end (I'm assuming the wax would melt around them first and they'd sort of sink down with the flame and wouldn't burn until there was a little pile at the end).
I never actually bought one to try out so who knows how they actually work...
but they are interesting!

I'm not sure if they'd really sink in the wax, I can imagine them floating as the wax melts. Since wax has a pretty high surface tension, I believe...
That doesn't answer your question, though, but I have no idea how it smells, I've never had such a candle either :D

Yeah, sinking isn't really the right word, and yet the liquid wax gets wicked up and used that way and I don't think the petals would be drawn up to the wick in the same way at all, which means they'd gradually subside down as the candle burned down, wouldn't they?
Ahhh, this is pure speculation, I am so curious now but I don't really want to go mold candles with petals in them just to test this, there's too many other things I need to work on right now!
