My friend used to have one but it was all alone in its cage and I felt really bad for it, I'm sure it was feeling lonely, I get the feeling they are more of a social kind but she wouldn't listen to me. It died fairly quick :(

Aw, yes, guinea pigs need a friend much like rats and mice. Unless you can afford spending a lot of time with just one pet like that, then it should be fine, because it wouldn't get as lonely and would get more attached to the owner. But if you only have one guinea pig/rat/mouse and you can't spend much time with it daily, it's better to get a friend for it. They don't like being alone :qf:

Most animals could use some company, it's mainly the reptiles that are mostly indifferent.

and cats XD Though that depends on the cat's temper.

I know many cats who get along, especially if they grew up together as kittens.
Though if you introduce a new cat to an older cat then it's the recipe for disaster unless the kitty is calm and not too assertive. One has to be the alpha and rest submissive so very hard if both are aggresive.

I don't mean cats don't get along, I'm just saying some cats are loners :qw: If a cat is raised alone, it's not too stressful for the cat, they can amuse themselves fine. For cats it doesn't really matter that much if they have a companion or not. For dogs it matters more imo. But for the most of rodents it's a must. I don't know about birds, I think it depends on the race? x.x And reptiles, well... no idea entirely :qt: I know snakes may not get along, I've heard one may eat the other x.x I wonder how it is for lizards.

Damn, I'm hungry, but I'm about to get e-mails to send and it's nearly half an hour till the end of the working day and my brain's like "don't eat, you'll have to rush it, better not start at all, you can eat later" x.x but my stomach's like "gimme food or I'll eat your soul :mcangry: " XD

Oh I see now, makes sense.
Cats always have something to do when they're not sleeping, though cuddly cats demand more attention and it can get tiring when you have stuff to do.

Maybe have a light snack? Something to trick your hunger and not you get bloated before dinner. I just had a corn myself, wasn't really hungry but it was freshly boiled and still bit warm so couldn't resist it.

I really want a couple of pets now but, well, even for a small cage I don't think we have room. Plus time to look after them and play with them. I don't want to get them if I can't commit to making their little lives as happy as possible.
