Haha yeah Rowling over narrated and repeated her self in the first chapter. If you ever enjoyed any of the movies, try reading like three or four chapters, it really does get easier to read. XD

Since I started reading HP when I was young and more tolerant of books, I really can't say much.
Sometimes the hardest parts of the stories are the set-ups...and most set ups are intros. XD

I love love LOVE! reading Grimbolds Other World by Nicholas Stuart Gray. I could read it forever!
I also like the Abby Cooper: Psychic Eye series. I was so into the first one that I stayed up 24 hours reading it. I couldn't stop. It has a bit of romance, but many stories do. I can look passed that.

Aha, my favorite series is one that the KofK bookclub is on --the Thief series by Megan Whalen Turner. I got into it I finished ahead of schedule. Whoops. XD;

I don't do book clubs. Mostly because right now, I can't do any real reading. The most I get to do is short conversations on here. XD
