All you need to do is read first page.
- it doesn't fill out space proportionally
- not enough changes per stage
- knuffel should evolve, not grow

I still think stage 3 and 4 look almost identical. You keep adding tiny things, but the big significant changes between all stages are lacking.

Not enough I think. The change must be something that will be visable right away and that will make next stage significantly different then earlier one. It's great you add more variety to his hair and other small elements, but when you look at this knuffel 2 are on first line:
1. his change from human into animal
2. his main clothes: shorts and t-shirt.

I think the number of elements is right now, but balance between elements is most important here. Like take a tail away from second stage and ears away from third. Make tail show in third (give it tail from second stage) and grow longer in next stages, delete ears from third, and keep them way they are in 4th and 5th. This will make first stages expose his outfit/hair changes more, while making his turning into animal bigger in 4th.
Gonna quote you stages of other knuffel (fire gen 10, because it kinda makes me think of yours), just for you to analyse way changes are coming, might give you idea about how to balance yours.

My knuffel was rejected because of proportion. Just wanted to ask if the problem is last stage (left and right side) or 4 and 5 (left, right, up)?

The problem is stage 1-3 where there is too much merging to the top.
