Kingdom of Knuffel

Dude did something that I still have issues with over a year later. to the point that just seeing him as a DM for a game I was interested in joining made me nope the heck away.

Aaaand he's a clickmonster now. A snuggly one.

I warn anyone who is considering joining his games, and I tell them exactly what he did. All my D&D friends know.

He basically yanked the proverbial rug out from under the party in one of the most painful ways possible for my character, and it triggered me really hard. My character had really strong ties to his family (in a good way. His family was loving and supportive and encouraged him to explore the world and grow as a person, and made sure he knew he would always have a home with them) and that DM basically went "Demon apocalypse happened. All your loved ones are dead."

It took me trying to quit and the rest of the party negotiating on my behalf to get the DM to dial it back for my character, to "But your family is enslaved and can't leave the place you used to call home, because if they try, they instantly turn to ash and dust, and they have to do bloodsport for the entertainment of a demon prince (before, they were just fighting to put on a good show for the audience, and there wasn't really any big drama between various teams), and if they don't, he'll kill them anyway."

Because that's SO much better.
