No, in the first week, we only light one of them, in the second week, we still light that one plus an additional one, and so on. So in the end, on the last sunday before christmas all the candles are lit together.

?? But if they aren't candles that... ohhhh, I'm a fool! You blow them out. Right. Okay, yeah, I can see that.

Haha, yeah, we just light them during a meal or the like and blow them out once we stand up from the table :)

All is made clear.

You know, I should do candles more often just as a regular thing. We usually only use them at night once people start going to bed (in case the brighter overhead lights would disturb them) but there's something very cozy about candles.

That's definitely true! They give that comfy, soft glow that's really nice, especially in winter when it gets dark early.

ha ha ha, and of course they also help hide mess, so when the house isn't as clean it still looks nice.
>.<
Sigh.
I don't know where all the dirt comes from, I really don't. I swear I do clean!

I need to use candles more often as well :) I started doing it more last week.
They definitely have something cozy about them :) :3

Now that you mention it, Santa is probably derived from St. Nick, but I have to look that up!

Chrizine, you know what? A friend of mine told me, that the Christkind is actually an invention by Hitler :o I don't know if this is true, haven't done anymore research on that... Maybe not invented, now that I think about it, but he definitely could have strengthened that picture.

What, really? :o I hadn't heard about that before, I hope he didn't literally invent it... But I have my doubts, I thought the tradition was much older.

Yeah, I have a lot of toys and dolls in my collection. Dolls are definitely my favorite thing to collect though! :mcheh: :qh: One cat is grey and white tabby, the other is orange tortoise shell. :mccute:

My traditions around this time ... mostly center around a large amount of Xmas movie-watching and a mass amount of decorating and hanging lights. I love putting up my little light up villages every year :mclaugh: Xmas eve is usually spent with Jay and my mom having a nice dinner and watching It's a Wonderful Life, opening maybe one gift for the evening and having some wine. Xmas morning is usually spent with my mom and then we either go out and visit Jay's family, or just have a quiet day. I think since it is our first year in the new house we will have a quiet one alone which is totally fine by me ... the family gatherings are my least favorite part of the holidays, I find it emotionally draining ... :mcheh:

Christmas Traditions! Love 'em!

Let's see, X-Mas eve we don't really do much except getting the sauerkraut and dumplings ready for the next day. We don't do potato dumplings, we do sour cream and flour ones, but I grew up with those. Also we have a special treat! I bought us some sauerkraut from ALDI. X-Mas day we're getting dinner ready. And sometime between now and X-Mas day we will watch Bing Crosby's Going My Way (LOVE THIS TO DEATH!) And We're No Angels 1955. (Omg! It's a cute movie!) Oh and on X-Mas day my daughter and my niblings open presents.
