I like hardcovers because they're aesthetic and will less likely get damaged. But I like softcovers because they're cheaper and easier to handle. But the folding and the tearing ... it's evil T_T
I want a book with the durability of a hardcover and the softness of a paperback ... it might turn out to be rubber ... but hey, it's better than tearing XP

Usually I buy softcover, but if I know the book to be great, I sometimes buy hardcover versions.
Some of my favourite softcover books, I've read so often that they fall apart.
I think I wouldn't have that problem if they were hardcover.

I tend to prefer hardcover because they are very pretty and more durable. With that said they are expensive so I just tend to dress my ebook up as a hard covered book instead. XD

I like Hardcover more. Just because softcover tends to ware out a lot sooner.

I prefer hardcovers because it won't bend like a softcover would, which irritates me too much, unless there's a (rare) exception.

For me it depends. Some books would be way to expensive as hardcovers, not to mention that sometimes the publishers would not even publish them in both versions, so we are kind of stuck with what is offered to us.

Hardcovers are definitely more satisfying, but softcovers are less expensive. It really depends on the book which I choose to buy. For my classics and books I am in love with I'll buy the hardcover, for books I'll only pick up once in a blue moon it's softcover or e-books.

Because I rarely buy books (most of my reading is ebooks or borrowed), I prefer to get hardcovers almost exclusively. Sturdiness is the best, and I like how they feel in hand. On the flip side, I hate dust jackets. They're so flimsy and bendable. I prefer to remove them sometimes so I don't have to worry about them. One of my other pet peeves is hardcovers that are crushable at the top and bottom of the spine.

If I really, really like a book it needs to be hardcover. Usually its just ebooks, so I don't waste money on a hard copy if I end up not liking it.
