For me, when I'm in a depressive mood, I always tell myself it's the depression making me feel that way and that it's not unending. And then force myself to do something to distract myself. But it varies from moment to moment what really helps to distract.
Listening to angry or happy music can really help. Personally I've found that sad music will just make me feel worse. But taking a short walk outside and forcing myself to look up and observe my surroundings can also help.
Talking with my bf, him hugging me and letting me cry while assuring me, tends to be really helpful too~
I've also discovered it really helps to have a certain rhythm and goal in my daily life. And to make sure I'm rested by sleeping enough and having time for myself to do things I enjoy, like gaming. This can also give something to look forward too, which in itself is a great motivator.
Eating healthy isn't a magic cure for depression, but it does help make you feel better. And the same is probably also true for exercise, but I'm too lazy too find out xD

Also, talking with a professional helps. I know though that sadly, not everyone has the opportunity to do so.

I'm currently in therapy. Have been since 2016, when I hit my lowest point. it really does help, having someone to talk to and who can teach you new ways to cope. It does get better. Having a good support network is ESSENTIAL. I also take antidepressants and likely will for the rest of my (hopefully long) life.

Anymore, anxiety and trauma are the focus of my therapy sessions, as I've stabilized, depression-wise. Yeah, I have low days, but those are infrequent and don't last long. I get through them knowing that they are a temporary state of being, and that they're not permanent.

I have battled depression pretty much my whole life. For a long time, I could look at my life and say "I'm depressed because..."

Then my life actually got to where things were pretty good. I had a good job, a nice apartment, good friends -- I was still single, but had learned to be okay with that. But I was still depressed. So that's when I figured out that I needed some help. I went to the doctor, got antidepressants and counseling.

It's still a struggle, but I manage to cope. Sometimes I do bury myself in distractions like TV or computer games, so I don't have to think too much.

Music. I drown myself in music and just let the instruments and vocals distract me. I also doodle or sleep. And depending on where I am in the house, I also have an attention hound dog who'd not let me be sad if he can help it.

I try to distract myself as much as possible, to be honest. There are days it's not possible, but video games and Netflix are an excellent aid, especially now that hanging out with friends isn't possible anymore.

It depends for me. Like I'm always depressed, its an imbalance in my brain for me. But idk it differs depending on the severity. So right now, i had a car accident about two weeks ago and have been home since, the accident was my fault, i just made a mistake and didn't see the other person, but I've been reliving it everyday. I've been trying to just watch funny stuff, take care of all the legal stuff involved with it so that takes some pressure off, and I've been cooking a lot, I just try to force myself to do the things i enjoy and the things I'm supposed to do so that I can focus on that and start to feel better instead of just.. wallowing, you know?

I refuse to stop myself. I go on long walks. I try to call and comunicate with friends as much as I can. I am trying to improve my language skills. I look for job offers. I try to calm down and know my worth. I try to tell myself better times will come.
