Kirsch wrote: Dec 20th, '24, 09:12 I don't understand why they didn't record their time. But I guess I'm just to used by our system now. In the beginning it was really stressing me out but now not any more.

Your story kinda reminds me of a client which I took over while they were rapidly expanding. They went from a few transactions each month to hundreds so the old way things were setup didn't work anymore. I had like one or two years experience on bookkeeping by then so at least a little bit but setting everything thing up while they were always coming up with something new :') they also started to hire people and each time I did their payroll they had something for me which I've never done before. Great for learning but also very stressful ^^°

I kinda hate it when people come to small places and expect stuff being done cheaper as with bigger companies
Like our time is valuable too and we also have expenses to cover and can't work for free
What are they expecting?!
Its also one of my pet peeves when grown men are running companies and have all the finances and tax stuff handled by their mothers -.-
But I guess that's because the ones I had to deal with are usually trying to boss us around complain about everything especially when we try to bother their precious sons with questions because they run a business -.-
I've had five employees and the ones older than me were the worst, and laziest. I had one that would ONLY do taxes. She would not process payments, make copies, answer the phone, nothing. Just do the tax returns. She regularly talked down to me in front of the clients, expected me to make her copies while I had clients at my own desk, and openly complained about me to them for asking her to do basic duties, like answering the phone. When I fired her, she used my paper, ink, and internet to launch her own tax business. She died two years later, so not an issue any more. Turned me into a Little Red Hen. I run solo now. If I have to do all the work, then I'll do ALL the work, and keep all fruits of my labour.

Yeah, people don't realize just HOW MUCH OVERHEAD even small businesses have! We may not have mega-million TV commercials, but our software and oh-my-gosh the insurances.

I'm not a big fan of business owners who dump responsibilities off on their friends and family either. I've technically only got one bookkeeping client. She's in her 80s, works a full time job, she's a full time caregiver to her father (her mother recently passed), is expected to cook full meals for everybody every day, AND has to handle all the receipts for her husband's shop. Like, give the ol' gal a break...
Getting closer to being middle-aged I kinda understand that it might be hard to have a supervisor/Boss who's younger than you
BUT
That is by no means an excuse for any of her behavior!
Also the last part where she set up her own business with her stuff is like a huge WTF!
It's totally understandable that you prefer to work alone after something like this

Yikes, the least thing that husband could do is handle his business himself -.-
Like she's got so much on her plate already he should help out her! Not the other way round -.-

Tell me about it. XD

One thing I really like about the accounting/taxes industry is that you get to meet people from SO MANY industries! My lifespan and skillset is too short to get out and explore, so I like it when people come in with workplace stories, and they're more likely to gossip here when work and money is on the mind than when I worked other catch-all jobs like being a grocery store cashier. Had one dude who worked in a factory that made joints for hip and knee replacements, so he showed off photos of their finished products.

I like working with numbers in terms of accounting and stuff
It's the people that make my job difficult and sometimes annoying :')
So for me it's more like hating to work with people ^^°

You got a point there. Although that doesn't really happen to me. I guess it's more what my Boss experience is and I think he enjoys it because he's usually taking his time talking with clients xD

It is nice!

And I hate numbers either way. I don’t care what form they come in. Lol

I like numbers... but I don't always have the patience to work with them.
And it depends on context.

I definitely find numbers better to work with than people, anyhow. :P

New item is nice! Might have to make a new avatar, but I don't have the energy for it. Eehhhhhhh

Calculators are quite nice!
I kept meaning to learn how to use a slide rule, just because, but I never have. Calculators are simply so convenient...
