I wish i could make chibi art but i am just not good at it lol.
So i do between cartoony and semi realistic ish stuff.
Tho my friend said i should try it for my adoptables to make it easier on myself.

Whenever i draw i go big or go home. :mcheh:
tho with my art i use a ton of layer modes.
mostly because my laptop screen has awful colors.

I work really hard on stuff but sometimes seems like I didn't work hard at all.
I just don't like some things I make xD

most things i feel i don't nearly push as hard on.
So hoping in 2022 I will work a bit harder since i get a little too lax
when it comes to working shadows into my work and understanding them.

but started watching some art tutorials to help and it's been helping me understand painting. so hopefully i can keep at it.

I've been trying some different stuff. I tried it in the past and liked it but I stopped doing it.
When it comes to white clothes, I started mixing different colors into the shading.
Example: [x]
The character's robe was white, but I used blues and pinks to shade it.
I had a lot of fun working on that one.

I started getting caught up on my age too...Like my art doesn't look like a 33 year old made. That's not how art by a 33 year old looks. It looks like someone much younger made it. So I started insulting myself xD;

I don't often try things outside of what i can do.
but i plan to get out of my comfort zone this year.

that's actually the accurate way to color since with painting digitally
many artists say never use pure white or black.

I don't really think art is supposed to look like your age tbh.
I know of many people in their 30's who make very cute art.
and as long as you enjoy the art it shouldn't matter.

I used to refuse to draw a lot of things, but I'm willing to draw anything for commissions.
I'm not very good at drawing a lot of things but I'll try xD

I've heard that before. I've also heard people say the opposite. I tend to listen to advice, try it myself, and if I don't like it - I won't do it again.
I've never gone to art school, I've just seen a ton of art in my life.

I feel bad when like...a 14 year old has way better art than me xD;
I can never seem to let that go.

I'm a perfectionist so often just stick to what i know.
tho with commissions i especially do not try to do anything just because
i'm not good at a lot and if i can't make something work, i would hate to tell
the commissioner. Tho i don't get commission often at all from other people :mcheh:

For digital painting white and black aren't needed. But it also depends
on what style you are trying to achieve.
for me personally, only case to use pure white is highlights on eyes and such.
and not using black for shadows.

I have never gone to school for art and plan to never do that.
Just because there are way more affordable ways for art other than art school.

It's honestly just how people learn. Some people learn better than others. Some are fast learners. I know many people younger and better than me. But i don't compare myself because comparison is the thief of joy.

Comparing is bad but I can't help it sometimes.
It feels like I work really hard sometimes too and it's just not good enough 8u
Or I work hard on something no one really sees.

eventually people will see it.
I can understand tho. i stopped comparing just because
it was very damaging to myself and my growth.
it just takes a lot of consistent posting, and putting yourself out there.
But the right people will show up and like your work. I'm going through the same thing so I completely understand. But don't get discouraged. I'm sure it'll happen.

I just stay focused on my own journey and enjoy the things i make.
even if no one does, if i like it, it doesn't matter.
that's how i feel anyways. Or trying to have that kind of mindset so it doesn't discourage me from stopping art all together.

and i even started painting today.
it's a bit of a mess but i'm not finished but i like where it's going
so it's giving me bit of confidence to paint even more.
