Tires - and pretty much everything in a car - is so expensive.
And they make everything more expensive on purpose. Like lights - LED lights apparently costs hundreds of euros to replace and they are being installed in all new cars.

Happy holidays does work for all, but I dunno. Mixed in between languages, I always try to find a gift card that at least wishes happy holidays in Hungarian for our employees. I choose the lanuage over the exact wish.

Cars are kinda like everything nowadays, breaks soon. Kinda sad. :> But tires are indeed super expensive.

Lol, the little Jesus, I dunno. I think it's even mainly the religious people? There are 3 types of Christianity mixed in this country, so maybe it bothers the Catholics more than the other one's? I have no idea, never heard of it before, but maybe someone thought it was a good way to teach children to thank Jesus? I have no clue. The father winter is a Russian leftover I guess, I wonder what the Jesus story is, I'll look it up.

Edit: It seems to go back to the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, if you check the territories. Maybe even further back according to some stories, but this is what wiki says. Also don't forget that during communism, religion was not advertised and practising it wasn't really advised. But anyways, I like the map, it's not entirely correct, at least not for the Dutch, but there are many cultures here in one relatively tiny spot...

I always wish I had become a mechanic like my grandpa.
He worked for this company for over 30 years and he worked on like snack machines and coffee makers and stuff. He could also work on cars, though.
I'm of the mindset that I want to be taught how to do something.
Not have to depend on asking others.
My mom and aunt always get people to do stuff for them and I'm like "We should learn how to do it ourselves >>"
It's like that one saying that I always think of in these situations:
"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."

You know what's funny? The company my dad got his car from makes cars with tinted lights.
My dad didn't customize his car - it came like that.
Well, he got pulled over by a cop and got a ticket for having tinted lights.
What kind of shit is that >Bu

I understand that wiki map refers only to gift-bringers in December 25th.
But the wiki itself mentions other gift-bringers in other dates.
Here the tradition is on January 6th, when the Three Kings bring gifts to the baby Jesus. As a tradition makes a lot more sense to me tbh.

Truth is that many families changed it recently to Papá Nöel (Dec 25th) because it's earlier in scholar holidays, and if you give the kids their gifts earlier they have some time to play long with them. Instead of being given a ton of toys and leave to school the next day.
But it only dates from as long as people gives TONS of toys to kids, which is maybe from 40 years ago? Hardly a tradition.
And definetely imported from other countries.

Yeah, we should all learn to do stuff.
I'm quite useless in most mechanic, electrical, plumbing stuff. So is my husband.
We've got all our hopes in our son, otherwise we are doomed xD

I don't like the thought of mechanics taking advantage of my ignorance.
People have said they will charge people more who don't know what's happening.
Mechanics will deny it, but I believe some people would do that.
Apparently it's human nature to take advantage of others Bu

What I don't understand is why you take your vehicle to the mechanic, they fix it, they charge you, the issue still exists, so they charge you to fix it again.
I can't remember what it was, but something happened to my mom's car so she took it to the mechanic.
They fixed it then charged her. They didn't fix it though - it was still not working right.
So we had to take it back there and get charged more money to fix it.
I don't see why we have to pay TWICE for ONE issue that was supposed to be FIXED the FIRST TIME.
>___>
No, I'm not paying you again to fix something you should have fixed the first time >>

And did that work have no guarantees?
You make a repair, they replace this and that, and each piece is guaranteed for a certain time - let's say one year.
If it breaks within that time the guarantee should cover it.

We took it back in like a few days and told them it was still broken and they charged us to fix it again.

That sounds unfair to me.
I don't know, laws change from country to country, but here a new piece always has a guarantee.

I suppose you could file a complaint?
Although it probably won't make any difference...
