ha ha ha, apparating cats, that definitely sounds like something they would do.
I didn't know you had a doll collection, MissNikki! They sound super cute. And huzzah for resilient fish.

What color are your cats?

Sorry for late reply
But I don't celebrate Christmas because it's against my religion
We don't celebrate pagen holidays
my husband also doesn't like the religious aspect of Christmas
just the holly jolly stuff
I told him that was fine as long as he respects
that I don't want our child to celebrate because
Children can be impressionable and I don't want
to struggle with my only child going against my religion
taking her to go see the lights and things is okay
but the tree is a big no no for us
It's kind of a big deal in my family
I'm also jewish but we don't have holidays in place of xmas
It's just another day. All our holidays end in fall

Ah, chag sameach! We're almost at the end of the lights... do you like to use an oil or a candle hannukia?
It's a little reassuring to see someone else who has a jewish background; I know my family does things a little oddly and I'm always worried that my holiday descriptions will mislead people, since the details can be different. But you're here, so if my description of sukkhot is very different from the way you do it then you can speak up too and that will help!

Christians celebrate Christmas differently as well, so it's totally normal to describe your holiday, knowing everyone has slightly different traditions :)
I know that I want my children to grow up as atheists. I think I want to explain different religions to them when they are old enough and if they start to truly believe in something, that's fine. But yea.

@IceyVampir: Ah. I understand. I'm just curious. I like to ask because then I get to learn more about other people. I don't mean to be offensive or rude.

I liked Miky90's description of the christmas tradition she had with putting boots out for candy. That definitely sounds like a holdover from an older holiday, and a lot of fun.

We put boots up as well, but not on Christmas, but on the 6th or December.

Yes, that's what Miky90 was saying too, but I got the impression that it was somehow Christmas-related? Was that not right at all?
