You've probably done that already... But could you explain to me what GoodReads is about?

You can keep track of what you have read, what you have read this year, what you are reading, what page you're on, what you want to read, you can see what your friends are reading, you can rate and review books, you can sign up to win book giveaways, etc.

it's a social net for readers (and authors). you can assign your books to the shelves (the default ones are "reading", "read", and "to-read", but you can make custom ones. many people make shelves for different genres or series, or for buddy-reads), rate them, write reviews (and of course view other's reviews and ratings). you can see your friends' activity: what they want to read and whenever they add a new book to this list, when they write reviews or just rate books, what reviews or activity of others they "like" (speaking in facebook terms). you can also view the activity of the whole community but I don't know how it works, I haven't explored this option yet. recently I've discovered that you can ask for recommendations: there's a tab where you can write what you'd like to read and other community members will give you recommendations. I've made a request and got 7 book recommendations from 4 different people within a night! added 4 of them to my to-read list and made a new shelf for such books. you can word your request the way you like. if you feel like looking through requests from other members, you can give them recommendations too. and you can set a reading goal challenge! mine was 12 books for this year. I've finished 1 XD

I think it's a great site (there's also an accompanying app!). it has inspired me to read more and helped organize my reading. the site has just turned 10 years, check out their blog about that: https://www.goodreads.com/blog/show/102 ... rce=navbar

here are some examples of the shelves my friends and I have:

Sounds very useful :) !
I guess I will take a look at it later today..

Have to work 9 hours today. But: I get to read a lot at work when it's calm and no customer is visiting the museum shop. Especially with a weather like that (rainy and windy)

I was right, we had not many customers. So I read about 100 pages :)

It is a great job, I am glad.

wow, neat! I can't really read at work, it requires complete concentration. I have a one hour break but usually take a walk during it

it is! at least it was for me. I've been reading more since I joined and that makes me feel better about myself XD

If I read in another language it takes a little more effort to read at work, but if I am reading in German it is totally fine :)

Taking a walk is healthier anyway :P

Sounds very useful! I can imagine I would read more, too ..

I'm a teacher, I can't read at all XD
it's like you're in the spotlight, even during breaks

if you decide to join, by all means add me there! I'm leaving kofk, so I'll only know you joined if you add me. it's wulfilalice there too (am I repeating myself?)
there's an option to compare books and make book compatibility tests, and it's super fun! especially to find out that your friends' and your tastes in books are 100% incompatible! XD
