I was thinking they would be completely new fairies. I wonder if we'll get a fairy update once a year...

It says the fairies can grant you ADDITIONAL ITEMS, right? not ADDITIONAL FAIRIES. Plus, when the Valentines Fairies were introduced, it was like, "new fairies were discovered in the Kingdom!" and said they were Valentines Fairies, if I'm remembering things correctly. This just says new fairy ITEMS. So I'm assuming it's additional items to existing fairies, and not a new fairy item set. Maybe. But it certainly sounds more like additional items for preexisting fairies rather than additional set.

What Zia says seems reasonable. It's actually true that last time it was announced directly that there were new fairies. This just says new items.
