You mean about being a donor or getting fired despite saving the firer's life u8

There's a video about it 8u
Apparently she sued for 14 million and won an undisclosed amount xD

Were I the boss, I'd feel so guilty that my employee who gave me their kidney was ill ;;

About the getting fired, of course.

You have complications after a surgery, how on earth are you fired because of that?
The surgery being to donate the kidney for him is the cherry on top, but even if that was not the case, well, firing someone just because she has a medical issue is completely inmoral.
And I thought it would be illegal in all 1st world countries ¬¬

Pretty sure that's illegal and discrimination, but companies that pull that know the people they're firing probably can't fight back easily.

The woman who got fired wasn't going to work.
So she missed many days and that's why she was fired.

I think if a person is sick or going through stuff, they have the right to not go to work or school and not be punished for it.
A person can't help being physically ill or mentally down.
They should either be given the option to work from home or have someone fill in for them.
Even then, will they keep getting a check?

I honestly think if she disclosed a medical condition and they fired her for missing, it's not right and should be illegal.

I don't know your laws.
But here it's plain illegal indeed.
If someone is on a medical leave (for whatever the reason, you don't have to disclose your medical information to your employers, it's private) then it's automatically considered a wrongful termination. And therefore they must pay you a compensation.

Apparently it wasn't illegal because she was fire.
She did sue, though.
So I don't know if it was legal or not xD
If she was able to sue, then it seems like it was illegal.

I remember this guy who went to my school.
His mother died and he stopped coming to school for a while.
The school expelled him because he wasn't coming to school.
Back then and even now, I think that' heartless.

I had a mental breakdown and stopped going to school.
They failed me and were going to make me repeat the year so I said fuck it and quit.

I think I've said it before, but we live in different worlds, Moi.

I'm a teacher, so I know how expelling a student here works.
If they do something serious (not going to school is definetely not) usually they get expelled for a day or up to three days. If the misbehaviour continues, they get expelled for a week. If the misbehaviour still continues (some people are tenacious xD) then they get expelled for a month.
By the time this all has happened usually the year is over, and the whole thing restarts.
You just can't really kick out an student...

A few weeks before the lockdown one of my students lost her two (older) brothers in a crash. She did not get back to classes, which was just natural.
We had planned this outing with her group, and the family agreed that although she was not ready to go back to classes she would benefit from going back to a leisure activity.
That was the plan, unfortunately were were locked down and she could not return at all :|

I've been suspended from school before. It was when I was young, and it was because I brought a pocket knife for show-and-tell. My logic was that I wanted to show the pretty exterior (it was mother-of-pearl), and since I had no priors and didn't intend anything bad, I got a lighter punishment than I would've otherwise.
