If it makes any difference, Merrymaking, they probably aren't "dead". A lot of users hide their knuffel when they get them to level 100. It's sort of a confusing practice to me, since I like having my level 100s out on display to enjoy, but it seems to be quite a common thing to do. So in all likelihood, they didn't dislike your knuffel and purge them or anything, they just like put them into 'storage' while they raise up the next set of knuffel to level 100.
I was pretty surprised when a bunch of Una's re-release sold xD I only really did it to celebrate Spring, and I was considering offering partial refunds for people who buy her if it got down near the end and only one or two sold. But she's sitting with 6 sold right now, which is pretty sweet.
