Let me correct myself.

Has anyone taken an actual japense class? Yes or No?

Or is the vast majority learning on their own without the use of an actual person with a little paper tacked somewhere in their class room that says "Yes, I spent X years in college just to get this paper"?

Meep.

Anysnooch, I`m mostly learning by myself. Sometimes a friend of mine who took a class will help me out when we both have time too.

:O I understand now Waltz-san. I know what you mean. It's actually really sad though. Sometimes I feel hollow myself. This is often under a lot of stress and when I'm in my room by myself...

I'm learning Japanese in school also. I ditched Spanish for it. :P I'm just lucky that they offered it in this high school. What's ironic is that a white person is teaching the class. (not to be racist or anything) But he's a cool teacher and actually lived in Japan as a child so he's Japanese on the inside. XD

EDIT//Does that answer your question Waltz-san? ^__~

A very short synopsis on my difficult journey to Japanese:

Well I taught myself for awhile, then I had private lessons, but now I take online classes.

@Hikari: No, it is not racist when some japense proffessors aren't even japanese. There's even a russian guy that teaches a japanese class at the local college.

@Everyone else: I see.

For those that took classes, were you ever paired with immersion students? Kids that took japanese because of a program in their elementary that takes them to the end of their high school year?

Nope. Most of the people in my class are either interested in Japanese or just taking it for the sake of it and not doing well in the class. >>

Did you ever get paired with immersion students?

And how do the online classes work?

I most likely ran into a poor bunch. I've love to burn their horrible voices, minds, and beings out of my memory nor do I wish to encounter any of them. The ones I've met spoke of their memories during the class the moment it sparks which kinda disrupts everything and usually aren't that brilliant as one would think they would be for almost taking the language most of their life.

Most likely their parents wanted them in there. Those that stayed in the program most likely stayed because of the little friends they made.

Yeah. That does make sense. A strange image popped into my head where you were in the midst of a bunch of squabbling seagull like people. And they just voiced what ever came to mind.

So did they actually say all these things in Japanese? Because being constantly exposed to a language is good. It helps you learn the language better.

Not really. It's all in english. The "Japanese Only" thing was never strictly enforced.

Oh. ._. Now it sounds even worse! (And this is the reason why they should let us listen to iPods/other music players in class. >>)

When ever my teacher starts saying everything in Japanese, everyone will be all, "What!?" But it's not like my Spanish teacher who did it and then never told us what it meant later. We'll be able to pick up what he says now and then. :qw:
