It's funny, I keep thinking "app" means "it's one of those spy-phone things" but apparently it's computers too.

App is short for application
So it could work for computer programs

Unless discord started as an app which is why it uses the word "app"
Some did start as apps

I think discord indeed started as an app, but I've only ever used it on my laptop. :}
