Lately, it's been truckloads of Blackpink for me.

Oh! Someone sent me this link recently:
here?Follow link?
(sorry, I tried the "youtube" tags but... I don't know what I'm doing.
So that's what I watched on You Tube most recently.
(It's someone who took Leonard Cohen's "Halleluja" and translated it -with some interpretation- into Yiddish, and then performed it. My uncle watched it with me and then said, "That's not the song of someone praying to God. That's the song of someone who wants to get lucky.")

Just watched the video you linked, Akili, it's fascinating.
I have to agree with your uncle though :D
I really like the singer's voice, it sounds lovely.
I'm fascinated by the fact that some lines I can understand almost completely, because the words are so close to german, while others I wouldn't have any idea what he's singing about without the english subtitles.

Yes, it's almost like a dialect of German, with heavy slang, or something... I noticed that too!

Just from how much I understand of it, I'd say it's similarly close to german as dutch is? But it's very clear that they're related.

I have trouble picking out any words at all in Dutch, it's really hard for me for some reason. People say it's a related language, but if so it's on the far side of difficult.

I found this easier.

Hm, I haven't heard any dutch in a while, so I have trouble saying for sure. But I think I might have been more exposed to dutch when I was younger, so that might be why it seems more similar to me than it actually is. I don't think I was exposed to much yiddish.
Like, you kind of grow accustomed just to the general sounds of a language by hearing it, so it'll get easier to pick out words with time.

I watch a lot of J vloggers. Abroad in Japan, Rachel and Jun, Sharla in Japan, Simon and Martina, etc.
I also watch Critical role. That's a DnD stream plus some other content the players do.
And then there are a few random ones. I watch a girl named Taylor she has a bajillion animals she takes care of. There's another Taylor I watch, she lives in China now but she used to live in Japan. I watch Simply Nailogical, she's super funny. Thread Banger, they do a lot of DIYs. And Rikki Poynter, she does a lot of videos about disabilities, LGBTQ+, deafness, etc.
I really like YouTube.
