Does anyone have any tips to better item digs? Can you dig up a water item anywhere but the water area? Do max level knuffels have better chances to dig items than lower level ones?

From what I understand, if your digging stat is over 100 in one area, then that extra points go toward digging up rare items/digging items. So my Ruvraya would have a better chance at digging up digging items from Dark Plains than another Knuffel that only has 100 digging points in Darkness.

But when digging items were first implemented Starkad said that he put it in as booby prize along with the food points so that you only dig them up if you fail at digging which means if your Knuffel has over 100 digging points in an area then they won't be able to find any digging items or food points in that area anymore. Then Firn said that's not how she envisioned it and that she'd talk to Starkad. But I never heard what came of that.

Sorry, I guess this post is pretty pointless. If someone could confirm that you can find digging items in areas your Knuffel has got more than 100 digging points in, then I think the first paragraph is correct. If no one can attest to it, I'd go with digging in areas where your Knuffel don't have 100 or more points in.

I DO know that digging items can only be found in its respective element, though.

I believe this is the correct statement because I just went digging and two of my over 100 digging point knuffel just each dug up an item today.

I can also add that if your knuffel have higher digging points, then they are less likely to dig up food for the reason that Zia stated.

Mkk thanks. It bugs me that a lot of things on this site are "secrets" but I guess we'll get them figured out.

It is not a "secret"!
It is even explained in the FAQ:
"Each Knuffel element corresponds to a digging area. Your Knuffel starts out with a bigger chance of finding items/material in that area.
Each location on Candy Island is associated with an element and your Knuffel has a higher chance of finding something in this location the higher its Digging Statistics for that element are."

So, that should answer your question?

If you have more detailed questions, like what exactly the chance of finding an item is in numbers, starkad would be the one who codes these things, so he is the only one who can answer detailed questions and he doesn't read announcement threads.
