Mine too. But it's even harder for me to imagine him siding with the KKK for anything less than a psychological or emotional need. I mean, reason and logic wouldn't explain it, nor would having some kind of personal connection, so...
I dunno. Some people are unfathomable.

Yes, yes they are. I just wished things were better in the country but the way things are right now. That will never happen ever.

I'm not quite so resigned. Part of me thinks this is the dark before the dawn--that the ideals, and shape of the 21st century Earth will be defined by this global conflict we're currently experiencing. Trump is only a part of that, and my hope is that his political career will mobilize people like never before. There's nothing we can do about the past, but the great thing about the future is that we can change it by taking actions today. Even little stuff, like being kind to a stranger, can have a huge impact because you never know what the ripple effects will be.
I mean, it sounds corny to say that love can conquer all, but I truly believe that when we are faced with hate and ignorance on the scale we're seeing around the planet today the most effective way to answer that is with compassion and understanding. And it's not as easy as the Disney movies make it out to be, and often times it means sacrificing some of your own comfort which can be a very hard thing to do. But I know it would work and that the world would be better for it.

I understand what you mean. I used to be like that but ended up experiencing too many bad things in my life that it made me the way I think now.
Last night I read on tumblr about how Bernie is winning all these states and that it looks like he might have a chance to win the election. I just hope we can. Might even try to talk my fiance into voting for his first time ever. I really think we all need to vote. This is one fight that we do have to fight with everything we have.

I agree! My hope is that even if he doesn't win, if enough of us vote for him it will create a progressive mandate that will effect trends and legislation. And I REALLY hope that all the people who are getting involved in the political process because of him will STAY involved after November, no matter what happens! People need to get back into local politics. Democracy only works if you participate, and if too many people opt out the whole thing falls apart pretty quickly. I try to vote, but sometimes local governments don't even inform the voters that there's going to be an election.
Probably cause they don't want people actually voting in them. Which is probably exactly why we need more of us to actually vote. So that we don't elect assholes who benefit when no one pays attention.

*claps* So true Pwale, so true. Exactly what I think. Let's just hope that this election does turn things around for everyone. Now for me to work on asking the fiance or actually tricking him into the desire to vote. He was never taught this kind of stuff in school so I am teaching him about everything so it's not going to be easy. Gotta do it slow not to smack him with too much info haha.

Good luck! Do you have any plans for how you'll convince him?

Not yet. Just most likely tell him more of what is going on and see how it goes on from there. I mentioned how Bernie is doing good in the states and he mentioned he read Hiliary is beating out Trump so that is a start. He's paying attention to it at least.

Yeah, a lot of people are this time. I'm amazed at how closely people overseas are following this election--it's definitely a unique cycle.

I like it that people overseas know what is going on in this country. Maybe they might be able to prevent stuff like this happening in their own country so no one else has to suffer like this.
It's also really nice that so many people are taking an interest in this election. But we do have Trump running so that is why.
