My cats never sit still unless on my mom's lap. Boomer and Thor both are babies when it comes to my mom. When Conan was alive, he'd settle down when he slept on top of me. And when Siris lived with us, he'd plop where ever he wanted mainly in the way so you'd have to pet him first.

My butt just got stabbed by claws. I'm on the computer and Thor clawed my butt to get my attention.
