I'm planning on getting info from the shelter on what's best for a first time cat owner, my bff has had plenty of cats but I myself don't really have an idea of what is best suited for me. And they'll know their kitties personalities best c:

Ha ha, or maybe you'll go into it with that plan, meet the cats they have available, and fall in love with one of them and decide that way instead. ;)

could totally be true haha! however if I get told that the cat I like is really an outdoors cat etc I know they won't be for me. we won't be able to let our cat out much due to our apt contract and I would never do that to a cat ;c

Yeah, the outdoor cats might have fun exploring but they tend to have much shorter lifespans.

I meant it more in the sense that I don't think its right to get a cat that has a nature to be outdoors, and keeping them indoors the whole time. Some cats just aren't meant for that and I wouldn't want to force it onto a cat when there's plenty of cats that don't have a problem being indoors

Yeah, the outdoors vs indoors would definitely be something I'd take into account as well. I couldn't bear taking one that loves the outdoors and then suddenly restricting it to staying in the apartment!

But apart from that, I don't have high hopes of making any kind of rational choice - I rather expect it to go the way Akili said, just falling in love with one when I see it :D

But talking with the people there about the cats and their personalities seems like a good idea :)

And if your friend has had cats before then I'm sure you'll be fine and she can teach you all you need to know to take good care of it :)

I've never had a cat before, so before getting one I'd definitely make sure to do some research into what I need to be aware of. My bf's family has had cats when he still lived with his mom, but I'm not sure how much of an active role he took in taking care of them (I'm guessing not much, but he still knows about some issues they had). And we'll always be able to ask his mom if we are unsure about things ourselves, I suppose, so that's good, too :)

& I agree, as long as the colleagues are nice and I am good at what I am doing, the job should be just fine :) Even though I agree with Chrizine here, I want a job in my field of studies because I love what I do.

I've never actually wanted a career as such, just an income to live off because my focus is elsewhere, but I know some people who definitely have careers instead of jobs, and they thrive on it. So if that's what you want, I hope you get it!

I never want to be someone whose life centers around their career, there's too many other things I love doing. But I don't want a job that I just do for the money and that is no fun to me either. Hoping for a healthy middleground :D

super off topic but wow my upstairs neighbour is turning out to be a real...deal :/

we had her at our door yesterday, with a complaint that we were making an awful lot of noise with our furniture building, which I understand since it is a lot of drilling and hammering. But she literally also made a complaint about my bff's heels. How -in her words- ''she hopes my bff can realise that she (neighbour) can hear her every step she's making on those high heels??''

Yes, she can totally understand her high heels make noise when she's walking on our floor. She also only wears them when she's entering or leaving the house and at that time (4pm) she had been wearing them for 15min because she was moving in some more of her personal items which took 2-3 trips to and from the car parked in front. Am I the only one thinking its pretty petty of her to make a complaint about that?

The furniture I understood, but we also assured her that today was going to be the last haul from ikea, and that after that assembly -in her words- "the
peace and quiet would return''

now we got our ikea delivery at 9am and deliberately waited till past noon to start, just in case she had a day off and was sleeping in! And we worked from 12:30-17h and after a long day I open my e-mail to see a mail from our landlord that she's had complaints about an abundance of noise. wow :/

I'm seriously thinking she spun quite a tale to our landlord too, cause in her mail she 'asks us to keep our noise at reasonable daytime hours and only on weekdays' when we literally had that rule for ourselves! I just had to type out a long long mail basically defending us with the truth that we always kept our work between 11am and 8pm, when its literally allowed btw to 'make noise' from 6am to 10pm! And we only had my dad drill some holes on ONE saturday, because my dad who owns the drill couldn't come during the week. I cannot comprehend that I literally had to assure to my landlord that we wear HOUSE SLIPPERS when we're at home like no please we don't walk around in high heels all day long?? And our furniture assembly has lasted 3 weeks in total from the time we moved in?? Literally what I am so upset and this really threw off my entire mood :/
