ha ha, for me it really is about food waste. Even a spoon and a half of beans, I'll just spoon it into a 'future soup scraps' container in the freezer. It'll sit in the freezer collecting a spoon here, a spoon there, and then eventually it'll fill up enough to make soup with.

I'm admittedly not really focused on food waste, but I will also save things that others in my family and friend group don't think of doing. My mom for example will throw out so many pieces of a chicken cause they're supposedly inedible when I always save all of it cause the chicken she'd toss out is perfect for starting a chicken soup!

Yeah, I think the super-consciousness of waste is mostly only a thing that people pick up if they've been through a period of deprivation, or have been influenced by someone who has.

My grandparents and in a lesser degree my parents all went through war times, so they do in varying degree have that 'be grateful for meals and don't waste too much of it' ideology which imo isn't a bad thing to have at all, as long as its in a healthy dose ofc and not obsessive to the point of interfering with the quality of your day to day life.

Imo people could benefit from a bit more mindfulness around food waste

Oh maaaan. Eating chicken on the bone with my husband is infuriating. He leaves so much on the bone it's ridiculous.

He was raised upper middle class and I was raised in a low class situation. We didn't waste no food in my house.

And if anything went bad we would throw it over the fence to the cows. lol.
