The Knuffels are actually genderless, but I give them genders anyway.

I consider all knuffels topless or showing there
chest as males. Excepted Dark gen 1 who had
a top, and Gen 3 air. I considered them male
for how they were dressed, hair and eyes.
Though, Gen 1 light I made a boy even though
I know it is a girl.

Same.
If their top half is covered I consider them to be female,
if not, I consider them to be male.
But yeah, their overall appearance helps me decide, too.
All of the ones you listed look like the complete opposite to me,
except the Light one, but I guess it doesn't matter since they're genderless.

Cute, I love those freckles/patches he's going to develop later on.
Been looking forward to a merfolk, missed out on the first water Gen so I'm glad another one came along.
