Random factoid on Asian kids being good at math,
I work at tutoring service that mostly teaches Chinese international students, and I don't teach math but a friend of mine did. One time she was completely flustered over this student who just couldn't seem to understand his math lessons no matter what she did. I asked her for the details and it basically broke down like this:
It turns out the kid was the first math student she had ever taught whose first language was NOT Mandarin. And that's what the problem was. In Mandarin the number system has a strong emphasis on the concept of like "ones", "tens", "hundreds" ect. I don't actually know any Mandarin, but I speak Japanese which is similar, like "two tens four" is how you would say "24". So all the kids have an understanding of counting by groups of tens and 100s and whatever immediately after learning numbers. English speaking kids have to learn that concept later on because the counting system doesn't work the same. So the kid didn't understand how to count by groups of 10s, and my friend didn't understand the concept of not being able to do that automatically because she grew up speaking Mandarin :O
So it seems like there might be a tiny bit of truth in the whole "Chinese kids are better at math" after all, at least for really young kids LOL

Well if you also know Japanese, then you know that numbers characters for “20” would look like “two ten” and “24” would look like “two ten four”….xD that’s how I’ve always know numbers to be like that in Chinese so its not out of the ordinary. XD;;

I don't know, language maybe helps.
But in almost the rest of the world we usual Arabian numbers, which also do groups of ten... so I wonder wether that's so significant.

That reminds me...This girl made the argument that cancer is good because it's our bodies...something something stupid af.
I think she said cancer means you're healthy.
One of those fitness health gurus that chugs gross shakes and promotes wellness.
She literally said cancer is good and we should be happy with it.
This person said "I'd love to tell my family member that but their cancer killed them."

Maybe some people think along the lines of “oh once you get it, you can build up an immunity so that you don’t get it again” or something…8U

I recall having read that Asian families in the US tend to push their children to work harder and get better grades. That there is typically more pressure about good results in general.
I wonder if the good-at-maths stereotype is not simply caused by that...
Happy about cancer. Duh.
It's like those religious fanatics who think it's better being dead than alive, because heaven.

I don't know what she was thinking saying that...
Cancer is deadly and if it's gotten rid of - it can come back.
It's a horrible thing and people should never have to deal with it.
I've lost so many people to cancer and for someone to tell me they were lucky - I'd punch them in the boob 8u
