Okay I'm super confused about most of the generation names.

I know the "baby boomers" was the population surge in the ~10 years after WWII ended.

After that....

So confused.

Millennials has to be people born around the turn of the millennium, but which way? People born 1995-2005? Only born AFTER 2000? 1990-2010? Where are the dividing lines?

I need a cheat sheet. :qsweat:

Wikipedia says this:
"Researchers and popular media use the early 1980s as starting birth years and the mid-1990s to early 2000s as ending birth years, with the generation typically being defined as people born from 1981 to 1996."

Basically people who are 25+ are probably safely considered as millennials I think.

Ooooh, so it's not people who are BORN around the millennium, it's people who grew up in that time frame.

Right, I was quite far off.

I used to think millennial meant being born around the 2000s too XD But then the references just didn't match up LOL

Don't know.... jealousy because "Millennial" is a much better name than "Generation X", "Generation Z", "Baby Boomer" or "The Silent Generation"?

I went and looked them up because you made me curious, lol...

Apparently the Silent Generation followed the Great Generation, and the contrast makes me a little sad for them...
Also I've noticed that my family's generations tend to skip one.
So we've got people born in one generation, and then no one in the next labelled group, and then people born in the one after that, and then no one in the next, and then people born in that one, and then no one, and then....
yeah.
Weirdly consistently so.
Which makes me wonder if they're counting the years right, because a generation is supposed to be a generation, right? Not half a generation?
Or we're just weird and all have our kids late.
That could be too.
