I had something equally as simple: made up a mess of corn grits, porridge style.
Then just set it out with bowls and spoons and let everyone season it or add things to their own tastes.
One of my uncles likes to cut up a hardboiled egg, add it and some Cajun seasoning.
I've an aunt who likes to spoon in jam until it's pretty much a dessert item...
Then you can get fancy and have it with caramelized onions and toasted cheese, but that's too much work for me today.
