When I was a kid I hated my name and I wanted to change it as an adult. Now I like it because it's unique.
And I've thought about changing my name on here but I've had this one so long that I've grown fond of it again. And I've been using it for like 10-13 years. lol. I'm so used to it now.

Hotaruchan is a nickname I've used for a long time now. I did think about changing it, but than decided against it because the nickname kind of has nostalgic value...
But younger me was not bothered by capital letters and that annoyed me far more than it should. So I did change my username so that it now start with a capital
As a kid I also hated my name. I wonder if that isn't the case for many kids? Until we get older and learn to appreciate and accept our name.

I started using ArmyAunt online when I had two nephews in the army, both stationed in Iraq. One of them got out after a knee injury. The other went inactive reserve and went to college, then went back in as an officer -- he just got promoted to major a couple of months ago.
I don't think I'll change my name here, but I'm sure my daughter will want to if she ever discovers that she can. I made her account for her when she was really too young to be here and I used the nickname I had for her when she was a toddler.

I was one of the first to get a username change here when the option was released as I'd inquired about it before it existed or perhaps while it was still in development.
I don't see myself changing it again. At least not anytime soon.
Although I have usernames I've used in multiple places and The Dark Avenger is one of them, I overall use several usernames. It depends on what I'm into or if the community is themed around a certain fandom.
As for real names, for the past six months or so I have been attempting with little success to convert to going by my middle name, a much more common and easy spell name than my first name.
So far I've only got three, perhaps four people on board.
My mom treats my first name like a cigarette addiction. She says 31 years is too long. :P
Everyone else just won't acknowledge it even though I announced it on Facebook and signed all my Christmas gifts with my middle name last year.
I'm not giving up though.
