Kingdom of Knuffel

I am an introvert who occasionally has the need for human interaction build up so much I flip over and simply must get out of the house and be around people. Since I'm retired now I am careful not to go to places where conflict might happen because I hate conflict or uncomfortable situations so mostly I go about making sure I don't get into them in the first place.

Sometimes it can't be helped and I HAVE to go to social gatherings. I've started trying to constantly remind myself "No one's paying attention to you," over and over so that I can just sit in the back and watch instead of trying to force myself to socialize and feel like an idiot.

Considering it takes an event like this to get me to even 'speak up' in a setting where no one can see my face, yeah, I gotta say I'm pretty introverted, at least on the down cycles. I'm prone to extremes actually. SO on any given occasion the same exact stimuli can either push me into withdrawing form the situation or engaging in perhaps an inappropriately enthusiastic response.

I'm a friendly introvert. It's nice to be around people sometimes, but I can be quickly drained by the social exertion needed.
