mem-That's horrible that you can still go to jail for killing in self-dense. O.O

Thanks for understanding. :mchappy:

I agree, and I tried to read her book but, like I said, I suffer mostly from the emotional side of it and her book focuses more on the physical. I was actually very disappointed that she didn't cover the emotional side more.

I'm glad that worked out for you. :qg: One time when I was at work an alarm kept going off and I thought I was going to lose my mind. XD

It never hurts to try. If he won't take it that's on him. I think it's a lovely idea. :qg:

I would definitely take his word for it then. He sounds like a great guy. I know, I have those issues too. I think most people do. We just need to have more confidence in ourselves.

Thanks, I appreciate that. :qh: I'll take all the good thoughts and prayers I can get. XD Awww, high school sweethearts! That's awesome. I'm glad you didn't have to go through that. Dating is awful! :qcry: For the most part anyways. It's great if you connect with someone but most dates are just lousy and awkward. I do need to get out more but now isn't the best time for it I guess. I've tried online dating and I'll never do that again. I married one and he was horrible, and the other I lived with for 3 years but he was just trying to use me to get citizenship.

They sound like they were ornery but very entertaining. XD I've never seen one of those hanging house/nest type things. They're very cute. :qg: I kept my rats in an aquarium so I didn't have all of the problems you've had, but mine didn't have as good of a life as I'm sure yours have. Mine didn't have much to do unless I got them out and played with them. If I ever get rats again I'll do better for them. That was the first time I'd ever had rats and I was a lot younger then. I can see why Ash doesn't like them but at least he puts up with them for you. I'm really more of a dog person myself but I love all animals. Kropka and Kreska, and their translations, are adorable names. :qh:

Welcome, Flopsy Mopsy! :qg:

Right? It's messed up, sometimes you're just so lost in your survival instinct that you just kill and I think it's every person's right to defend themselves. But nooo, "murder is murder" because we're christians and murder is anti-christian. Well, guess what, idiots, not everyone in Poland is christian. Not every christian is a saint. Even christian people would be able to kill in self defense, because it's a natural and basic human instinct. Also, crusades. Case closed, jackasses. :mcmeh:
Sorry, Poland's laws and politics are pissing me off :mcheh:

Yeah, it's true she certainly focuses on the physical aspect, but maybe there's more about emotional in her other books? I recently discovered she's written more on the subject and I can't wait until I have them and can read them. Especially the one about parenting as an HSP. I also tend to just shift what I'm reading into what I experience, so I translate physical into my emotional things as well. But also, I'm around the 4th chapter, so not that far XD

Jeez, alarms are the worst :mcdead: But yup, it kind of worked out, but I think it also helped my depression to grow :mcgloom: A double-edged sword, as we say in Poland (idk if it's also used in English?).

You and my mom both think it's a good idea, so I might try that. I'm really anxious about it, though.

Ash is awesome, although I think we're incompatible on several levels, at least for now. For instance he's not into emotional stuff at all and I'm like the most emotional person ever XD I'm quick to forgive or forget about an argument, but he's not forgiving at all (he'd gladly have my sister and her husband dead, it's to that extent) and after an argument he might stay angry for three days and then suddenly everything's normal. I'd rather talk it through and he's like "talk through what? I already forgot what it was about". But still, he's a keeper on many more levels even though there's some relationship work to be done still :mclaugh:
Building your confidence is so hard tho :mccry: Luckily I have an angel for a therapist :mclaugh:

Well, yeah, right now don't go out much :mcheh: My bff has tried online dating too, but most of the guys were creeps and others that were good were either crypto-creeps or there was some catch to the promised relationship (like moving to an entire different city while she has her whole career here... In dressage of horses). Eventually she met a masseur and now she's in love with him, happily for now (I'm crossing my fingers for them, he sounds like a great guy for her). There's always hope :D I'm sorry about your shitty experiences with men, though :mcsad:

Very entertaining for sure. They calmed down when they grew older, but they were troublemakers from snots to old aunts age :mclaugh:
I get it, rats aren't such simple pets as some portray it. And they're quite expensive in maintenance & especially if you have troublemakers. I once had two guinea pigs but neither me or my mom were educated about them and we've made terrible mistakes. I've also made mistakes with hamsters and I was an adult then. I had hamsters in childhood so I thought I knew everything, haha... Didn't end well. One really does have to educate themselves on the chosen pet first before they get one. Rats like to be stimulated (but don't invest in too many toys, they'll be the happiest in two blankets :mclaugh: ), have tons of places to hide and they love to be up top (that's why hanging nest is perfect for them, tunnels are recommended but hey, you can teach them to just go up your sleeve, some are true sleeve-rats). And they also need daily (semi-)free roaming. Some people dedicate a whole room just for rat escapades (but those people usually have a whole pack of rats) but after Cotton&Candy I don't think I'll ever risk that :mcheh: That's why I bought the plastic pannels, put two blankets in there and sometimes I give them some food-related toys and they're happy.
Sorry for the infodump, I love talking about rats :mcargh: Although I've never had males and I'm not very knowledgable about them. I'd like to have males someday, probably after our rodent break, so at least a few years, since I hope Kropka and Kreska will live long and happy lives with me.
Thanks, I don't know why, but I really like giving names that have some kind of connection.

XD I don't blame you. I agree. *nods*

If you read the other books please let me know how they are. I might try one of them. I could use some help coping even though I work on myself too.

Yes, that's a saying here too. :qg:

Well, I think making amends is good even if the person doesn't forgive. It will be good for you and it shows that you're trying. :qg: Then you can let it go and forgive yourself even if he can't.

I think part of that is just being a man. XD He's probably as good as he's going to get though so hopefully he's good enough. He has to want to change and maybe he can't? I'm glad you have a good therapist. Have you ever thought of going together as a couple?

I'm glad your bff found someone. :qg: Thanks, it's ok. I'm over it I just don't know where to go from here. I guess I'll figure it out as I go. XD

I learned the hard way that hamsters are solitary creatures and shouldn't be put in the same cage together. Luckily, they didn't die but they were beating each other up. XD I had go out and buy another one of everything so I could separate them. I think I had all females so I wouldn't have babies, but from what I know males aren't that different. I've had guinea pigs too, they're the most expensive in my opinion. I even had to buy them veggies to eat. XD I think that's a good idea for names. :qg:

Sure, I'll let you know :mccute: Working on yourself by yourself is hard, it's nice to have some help.

True, I just wantto leave that incident in 2020. If I'll do what I can, that should be enough for me, even if it might not be enough for him. Or them.

Yeah, probably XD He's great now, I just think we could improve some things in our relationship, like communication. I probably just don't see many results because they're probably more internal. I'm sure he works on his own stuff too. That said, I did and still do think sometimes about going to therapy as a couple but for now I think it would be too much for him. We're not having that much trouble, there's some communication issues and sex life lately. Other than that I don't want to change him, because h'es his own person and I love that about him and will respect that always. I just want to work on our relationship a bit.

Thanks, she's so happy now that I really hope he's the one. She's had some rough adventures.
I'm sure you'll figure it out :mcwink:

Oh, I had a whole pack of female hamsters, I guess nobody told me females are also loners. My previous hamsters were actually two males and they lived together, sometimes they fought but not anything drastic, just a dominance thing. But my females were nuts, there was one bully that chased others, biting the fur off their backsides. They were dying one by one and I had no idea what to do (again, no education about them, even though I bought a whole book about that specific type of hamsters - Roborowski). Then the two that were left were the bully and the tiniest baby girl who's bottom was bald from all the fur pulling... But the bully died first and the tiny little thing finally had some peace. I was just so sorry for them all and so proud of that tiniest thing to have survived the horror that I provided... And now I feel super bad about it again... Poor babies. I guess I bought more females because the first Roborowski female I got I guess was too young to keep herself warm enough and she died a few days after I bought her. So I thought I'd never make the same mistake. And thus the Roborowski horror began...
I'd say rats are pretty easy food wise, whenever we buy veggies and fruits, we share it with the rats. Their favorite are bananas (all my ratties were head over heels about bananas), carrot, tomato, cucumber, grapes, sometimes they like apples. And they love herbs fresh or dried, like basil, rukola (or arugula?), sage, silantro. And some rat food but not as grains, they'd just pick out the best parts and leave the rest, that's a waste. So I buy some rat kibble with meat, proteins and stuff. they love that kibble. With guinea pigs I made a mistake because I didn't supplement the vit. C for them... it was so hard to watch later on, they died in my hands...
But if I ever get guinea pigs, I want to name them Bacon and Lard, is it mean? XD

Haha, no problem, I sent you one of the trades, I'll jump to Asherin right after posting this ;)

Thanks. :qh: That's true. I feel like I'm in a pretty good place but if I had health insurance I'd probably get some therapy just because I haven't done it in forever. It helps if you can find a good therapist. It's kind of hard to find a good one though.

I don't blame you, 2020 has been a rough year for everyone for a variety of reasons. I actually had a pretty good year except for the pandemic. You might be surprised, they might accept your apology and you could be on your way to a fresh start with them. :qg:

I think there will always be communication problems in relationships. It's hard to communicate, especially with the opposite sex. XD We just think so differently. I hope those couple of issues you have get better. Maybe you two need a date night? Even if you stay in. XD

I feel for her, I did too. XD Thanks, I'm sure I will.

I wouldn't be too hard on yourself about it. The pet store where I bought mine from didn't even know that. I made sure to tell her when I went back to buy more stuff. :/ I wound up working there part-time later on and she just didn't are if they killed each other or not. She kept them in an aquarium together and let nature take its course. If I saw one being bullied I'd separate it from the others for awhile but they usually still died. :qcry: See, there's my problem. I don't eat a whole lot of fresh fruits and veggies so I had to buy them just for the guinea pigs. XD I don't think I fed my rats fresh food very often. :qoops: I'll have to remedy that if I ever get more. I don't remember having a problem with vitamin C for my guinea pigs but it's been so long since I had any I probably gave them something for that and just don't remember. The only ones I had die was a mom and her two babies. I don't know what happened for sure but I think maybe she had a third stuck inside her because she died around a week after giving birth to the other two. The first two were stillborn as far as I know. They were already dead when I found them. :qcry: My life was very hectic at the time so I wound up rehoming all of mine. I'd love to get another one but I'll have to wait because my dog would kill them. I'm afraid that he might get to them somehow even if I don't let them out around him. No, that's not mean as long as you don't actually eat them. XD They eat them in South America. O.O They're too cute to eat.

Thank you very much! :qg:

Sorry for the late reply, lately I'm drained after making one post a day :mcargh:

Yeah, it's hard to find a good therapist. I was super lucky, because I already knew the facility I'm having my therapy and I read about their therapists on their website. And this one woman stood out to me because in her bio she mentioned she specializes in HSPs, so she seemed perfect. But when I called she didn't have a spot for continuous sessions, so at first I just got calls whenever someone cancelled a meeting. Then she suddenly found a spot for me, since one of her clients decided they were ready to finish therapy. I can honestly say she's amazing. If I wasn't in Poland, I'd recommend her to you XD

I don't actually look forward to a fresh new start. I'm definitely not ready to be around my brother-in-law in any way, shape or form. I just want to clear the air and energy, bring back the balance. I don't really want him to jump out with "let's be like brother and sister" again. First of all, our relationship was never like brother-sister. He ruined that the moment he began openly comparing my "hotness" to my sister's and while she was in the room he said I'm more attractive than her. Like, who does that? And then when he asked if I'm attracted to him I said I do not, not even one bit, he said "so what, I'm complimenting you and you're not attracted to me at all?" That's not how it works, jackass :mcmeh:
So, you see, I don't want to build a relationship with him. I just think I should apologize for a stupid thing I did and stop feeling guilt and shame and give them some justice that they deserve. (Wow, literally after I wrote this part I went to draft a letter for them).

It's hard to communicate when one person was never taught to do that and the other person was taught passive-agressive behaviors all her life :mcheh: But we're working on it.
I mentioned we might need a date and he said "yes, we probably do", so maybe we'll actually go with it in the near future XD

Yeah, pet stores hardly ever care properly about the animals there. Even the terrariums are way too smal for just one hamster, and they pack like 30 of them in one :mcsweat: Not many people know much about rats so I'm not surprised yours didn't get fresh food often. :mclaugh: They're quite tricky, there's a lot that shouldn't be fed with like citrus fruit of fresh salad, I think mangoes areno good for males but they're okay for females in small dozes. there's a lot :mcheh: Truth be told, rats aren't easy pets at all. With guinea pigs it's hard because they don't produce vit. C on their own, so it has to be supplemented, most often it's just something you add to their water but I'm sure they can go off with certain veggies and fruits in their diet. I'd have to read more about it to be sure. Aww, poor mama and her newborns :mccry:
Damn, I would never eat a guinea pig unless if I was stranded somewhere in some jungle in South America and was starving. But that's assuming that 1, I'd be able to make fire, 2, I'd be able to chase and get a wild guinea pig, 3, I'd be able to skin it and fry it in the fire, 3, I'd eb able to either find or create a shelter. And to answer your question you didn't yet asked: no, I am not able to do any of these things. I'd have to be starving and extremely lucky that none of the wild predators have eaten me yet XD Also, I'm a tiny woman who panicks easily and I can't tell the directions for the life of me. I'm more likely to survive in the jungle Mowgli style than learn where the hell north and south are XD

No problem at all. :mchappy: I've been feeling the same way. I think I've spread myself too thin. :/

She sounds great. I suddenly wish I lived in Poland. XD I always find therapists that recommend things I know I'll never do or that it won't help, or they just sit there and expect me to figure it out on my own. I already do that a lot but if I go see a therapist I'd like some useful feedback. It's also really nice to find a therapist that validates feelings. It's hard to get family and friends to understand sometimes.

Wow. O.O I would think your sister would have an even bigger problem with him than you do. What does she think of him talking to you like that? I don't blame you for not wanting any part of him other than to clear the air. He sounds like a real piece of work. I just realized that there might be times I say something that's a thing here but isn't in Poland. :qoops: If I say something that sounds stupid to you, please feel free to ask me what I'm talking about. XD

That's very true. *nods* I have trouble communicating with my family and they've known me my whole life. It's very frustrating. :qs: I often feel like I'm speaking a language they don't understand but I have no idea it it's their fault or mine. I'm leaning towards it being their fault. XD Yay! Date night! XD I think every couple needs those.

All animals are hard to care for if done properly. If someone finds it easy they're probably not doing something they should be. XD I bet I supplemented with fruit and veggies because I just don't remember giving them anything in their water. I know. I felt so bad about losing them but I had no warning that things were going wrong. :qcry: I guess it happens. I doubt you give yourself enough credit but your descriptions are hilarious. XD I think Mowgli style sounds good but I'm not sure we'll be as easily accepted as he was since we're not cute little babies anymore. XD

Hello! I just joined yesterday!
I used to play before, but that was years ago ; u ;
Someone suggested I checkout the Charities forum :mclaugh:
I'd also love to stay and chat

I greatly appreciate the help~
I found a few Knuffles I liked!
I read up on what Wild Knuffles were and I love how they're usermade!
I might even think about working on one myself one day :mcsquee:

I hope you don't mind I just copied the pictures of what I saw that I liked, I don't know all the items very well ; u ;
I tried to pick stuff I could possibly make outfits out of, and for my room.
Which.. I need to read up on since I don't know how to get a room yet.

Thank you so much ; u ; / :qh:

Welcome back GrimDaeva!

In response to pet stores not providing the right care and animals being difficult to care for:

A local pet store near me feeds their tortoises a canned vegetable mix. I think it was like corn, carrots, green beans, and peas. Which is pretty much the absolute worst thing you could feed a tortoise, especially a young one who's still growing. And then of course, people assume the pet store knows what they are doing. So if they buy a tortoise from them, they often copy what the store does.

I think a lot of pet stores don't know any better since misinformation about tortoises is so common. But I think others do it on purpose because they want tortoises to sound easy to care for so that they sell more of them. If you tell people they can be kept in a little aquarium and fed a 49 cent can of vegetables, that's going to more appealing than telling people they need an enclosure that's at least 6 feet by 3 feet indoors, more space outdoors, the best diet for them is weeds so you better brush up on your plant ID skills, etc. I admin a few tortoise care groups, and they're very active because most people were given such crap info on them that they come in and have a million questions and basically have to start all over with learning and setting up their enclosure.
