Kira stood at the kitchen doorway, silently observing Ruby's reactions from behind. She immediately knew that her brother's question,
intentionless as it had been, had affected Ruby the wrong way. She looked over at Kayo, and knew that he could sense it too. He was probably even regretting asking the question in the first place. To break the mood, Kira stepped in jauntily.
"Movie options are vast," she said, setting the plates and glasses on the table before grabbing Kayo's box of movies. "Kayo here has a habit of going out and buying tons of movies when he's supposed to be studying for a test, and that's why we've got almost every movie under the sun." She grinned at Ruby. "Wanna do the honor of picking one?"

The twins exchanged amused glances and knew they were both thinking the exact same thing: for all her tough demeanor, Ruby was quite a softie at heart. They tried their best to disguise their wide smiles as agreement towards her choice.
"Sure," Kira smiled and took the movie from her friend's hand to start playing it, gesturing at Ruby to sit on the couch. Once the movie had started, she immediately snatched up the remote from the couch before Kayo could even touch it. "You are NOT going to keep going forward every time you think the scene is boring," she said, in response to a strong protest from Kayo. "That's that."
Kayo hung his head obediently and nodded at his sister's words before crashing down on the couch, conveniently right next to where Ruby was seated. That was not intentional, by the way. No way. He watched as Kira settled down on the single couch on the side and curled up into a cat-like position where she could watch the movie comfortably. He then glanced for a second at Ruby, before turning his attention to the screen,
hoping Ruby hadn't caught him looking at her.
((Kira's going to feel so lonely during this movie :'( So sad XP))

Halfway through the movie, Kira couldn't focus on Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler anymore. Her thoughts kept drifting to Chaos. Whether he was doing okay. Whether Stein was taking good care of him. Whether he'd be back soon. She thought about his face when they'd been called to Shinigami-sama's room, about how he'd stormed out midway, about his arms around her when they'd come out....
She looked over at Kayo and Ruby, and smiled at what she saw. Kayo had somehow managed to inch closer to Ruby, at some point in the movie, and rested his arm on th top of the couch, his arm subtly yet definitely bent a little, as though he were trying to hold Ruby, but didn't dare to actually do so. Whether Ruby was aware of it or not, Kira didn't know, for the former had her eyes trained on the screen. It was a cute sight.

((I'm cool XD I WROTE THE TOEFL TEST TODAY AND IT WAS SO GOOD I'M SO PSYCHED))
Kayo had tried his best to be subtle about inching closer to Ruby and putting his arm almost-but-not-really-around her, but now he was wondering if he'd overdone the subtlety. Of course, he wasn't exactly trying to get her attention, but it was a little unnerving that she hadn't responded at all. Not a single sign, as to whether she'd noticed or not. Argh, girls. Why were they so complicated? He took a chance, a couple minutes before the movie ended and tried to sneak a look at Ruby's face.

Kayo almost jumped out of his skin when he saw that Ruby had turned to look at him. he chuckled back nervously, while trying to pass it off as casual so it wouldn't look too weird. Yeah right, who was he kidding?
Kira had been watching the two lovebirds for a while now, and at that moment, she found it difficult to control herself and she let out a loud snort. Hurriedly, she turned her face back to the TV, making it look like she was snorting at something she saw in the movie.
"This scene always gets me for some reason," she stated lamely, hoping they'd be too caught up in themselves to realize she'd laughed at their cuteness.
