Harry Potter isn't a reliable bestiary. Rowling just takes a pinch of the mythology about the creatures and writes whatever the heck she wants for the rest. <--doesn't like Rowling.

I was taught to put them together. XD; It doesn't really matter when you write it in Japanese, though. Everything's together then. Putting them together or apart is just an English thing.
