Semi-short reply, because I need to go to bed, but I'll go in-depth about it later for you. I lost the Bakery due to shitty underhanded managers.
EDIT: H'okay, so. On 3/25, I got pulled upstairs in the office by Tracy (store manager, Her Royal Cuntiness) and Chris Brent (co-manager). She begins the conversation with "So, how do you think the Bakery's doing? What are your goals? Essentially, I just want to know where your head's at." To which I responded that I thought we were doing better. There was still things that needed to change, but it was much better than when I took over originally. To which she laughed and said "Really? You think you're doing better? I came in today and the pies were empty and the breakfast table was out." Which I got upset about, and said "Yeah, the pies are cooling, and Chris could have told you that this morning I had to call another store and ask for the items to bake the breakfast goods in, because the baker decided not to go to the shelf and get something. So yes, at the moment, those tables are out. But it's not also the cookie table, and the cake table, and the bread tables... so yes, I think that's progress." T: "What about the cupcakes? I asked you to do those yesterday, and they're still empty!" Me: "No, I did cupcakes yesterday, and Chris can tell you that, because he SAW me making them!" C: "Yeah, she did make them yesterday...." T: "Well, I'm just not seeing any progress over there! You have no sense of urgency when it comes to the department. I came by and where were you? On your lunch! I would think you shouldn't take your breaks until the work is done. And last Monday, you called in when? At 7:30? And what time were you due in?" Me: "7:30... But there's no manager in the store before 7:30, so I can't call in before then." T: "Well, as a department manager, you shouldn't leave the department high and dry like that. I would say you have two weeks -- no, you have ONE week to make drastic changes in the department or I will start progressive discipline and find someone who can do the job."
So I went home super stressed out and upset. Bought all the junk food you could imagine and stress ate like nobody's business. Then I had nightmares. Stress ate some more on my day off (Sunday). Had more nightmares. Woke up Monday and said fuck it, why give her a week to torture me and put permanent marks on my otherwise clean work record? She's going to demote me anyway, so I'll just step down. And so I did. To which she seemed very shocked and pretended to apologize, etc. So I texted my coordinator to let her know that I stepped down, and she replied back very shocked with "What??? Why????" So I told her all of the above. She responded with "Oh lord. have you told her yet" to which I said yes, but that I still had to hand in my official, hand written resignation. She never responded. So at the end of my shift, I turned it in.
So, my coordinator was in our store for this new order evolution training we had to do on 3/29. When we went downstairs, Karla (Food Service Manager, my direct boss), Latasha (Deli Lead), Meranda (coordinator) and I grouped up for the hands on training. We were talking about Balance on Hands, and I off-handedly (read: saltily) remarked that whoever got the Bakery next had it made. I fixed the BOHs, I 5S'd the freezer, the backroom, etc. And Latasha goes, "And they'll get training!" So I whipped around and I was like "ORLY?!" And so after a little bit of the three of us bitching back and forth, Meranda goes "Okay, I was trying to keep my mouth shut, but I have to put in my two cents. I don't want you to think I had anything to do with this." And at this point I'm going to paraphrase, because I don't remember her exact wording. About a week before I had gotten pulled upstairs, she and Tracy had been talking, because Tracy apparently just wanted to straight up start discipline? And Meranda said it was unfair to discipline someone who was never properly trained. So it was agreed on that I would receive training, then get the talk of improvements need to be seen, or I would be disciplined/replaced, but that I would have a MONTH to make said improvements after receiving TRAINING.
